Through Liturgy & Prayer
Concluding Rite
Our theme this month for the Year of Renewal is "Renew All Things in Christ," the motto of our patron, Saint Pius X. The best way that we can be "Renewed in Christ" is through our celebration of the Eucharist as a parish community. This week, Fr. Bill looks at the end of Mass, the Concluding Rite, and helps us see how the words we share at the end of our Eucharistic celebration are actually an encouragement to go out and bring Jesus into our families, our neighborhoods, and our world! Thanks be to God!
Bible Study
with Fr. Bill, Fr. Augustine
and Sally!

Commemoration
Weekend
This Weekend
August 14-15

It’s becoming obvious that life at the parish is returning: programs, events, and more are being planned. We are working hard to welcome everyone back! However, we aren’t just “moving on” in a rush to reopen the parish. We are sharply aware that the pandemic changed everyone’s lives, in good and bad ways, happy and sorrowful ways. We all went through a crazy, confusing, spiritually-demanding mess of a pandemic! We recognize that parishioners need to grieve, reflect, celebrate, and give thanks. That’s why we’ve created Commemoration Weekend.

The Commemoration Committee invites you to participate in opportunities to acknowledge the pain and suffering caused by the pandemic, and help give meaning to the losses and struggles of our parishioners and their families through a one-time event and ongoing prayer opportunities.

PARISH ROSARY & CANDLE PROCESSION
Saturday, August 14, 4:15 p.m.
PEC Courtyard (between PEC and PLC)

Led by Fr. Bill, join us for this opportunity for grieving and reflection, honoring the losses and struggles of our parishioners and their families caused by the pandemic. Candles will be provided and will remain lit throughout the weekend for individual prayer.

PERMANENT MEMORIAL QUILT
To acknowledge the losses we’ve experienced, but also recognize the blessings we have received, we ask that each family take a fabric square available at all the doors outside of the Church, inscribe both a loss and a blessing on the fabric, and return them by August 6. The squares will be quilted into a display for the Parish Life Center to commemorate the effects of this unprecedented time.

Maybe you were baptized in another Christian community but find yourself curious about Catholic practices. Perhaps you’ve been attending Mass with your spouse but you want to know what Catholics actually believe. Or, maybe you just never finished Confirmation prep classes as a teenager.

Wherever you are in your faith journey, we are here to accompany you as you explore becoming a member of the Catholic Church!

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) process offers a chance to consider your own faith journey in light of the community and resources the Catholic Church offers. Led by our priests, group meetings explore Catholic teachings, rituals, morality, and prayer in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.

Wednesdays
August 25—September 29
9:30-11:00 a.m.
CH004 (church basement meeting room)

Please join us for our first discussion of Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (“The Joy of Love”). Our first meeting is on the theme “Scripture & Spirituality of Family” and will focus on the Introduction, Chapter 1, and Chapter 9. The full text of the document is available as a free .pdf download on the Vatican’s website or can be purchased at major retailers. Although it is helpful to read the chapters in advance, please give us a try even if you’re unable to read ahead - you’ll still be able to learn from and share in the conversation. Unable to join us, but still want to read along?

Visit StPius.net/Fall-Book-Study for a link, as well as a weekly outline, discussion questions, and prayer prompts for each session.

For more information and assistance in obtaining the book, contact Ashley Logsdon, Director of Adult Faith Formation: alogsdon@stpius.net or 574-272-8462, ext. 122.
