The Exchange X10 

Sunday, March 2 | Blue Waves Gym

The Exchange is a family-friendly hip-hop event bringing together the hip-hop dance community in Maine. Dancers, families, and observers are welcome to come and watch and experience the day, participate in open dance/cyphers (dance circles,) or register to participate in the dance battles. You don't want to miss the exhibition featuring Phunk Phenomenon of Boston and final rounds of battles beginning at 4:30 pm. If you are a hip-hop dancer, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience hip-hop culture outside of the studio setting in a safe space. There’s so much to learn and absorb and new dance friends to be made.

Pre-registration for battles is required. Observers can pre-register or pay at the door.

Adult Repertory Classes Begin in March!

We love our dancing adults and believe the performance experience is valuable for all. Adult repertory students have the opportunity to perform in our Spring Concert at Westbrook Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 14th. 

Intermediate Hip Hop Repertory with Elizabeth Lau, Mondays, 7:45-8:30 pm, begins March 17.

Advanced Tap Repertory with Alycia Frost, Tuesdays, 6:45-7:00 pm, begins March 25.

Beginner Hip Hop Repertory with Kristin Sutton, Tuesdays, 8:00-8:30 pm, begins March 25

Intermediate Contemporary Repertory with Emily Getchell, Tuesdays, 8:15-9:00 pm, begins March 25.

Slow Intermediate Tap Repertory with Laurie Chiasson, Wednesdays, 7:30-8:00 pm, begins March 26.

Beginner/Intermediate Ballet Repertory with Rose Hutchins, Wednesdays, 8:00-8:30 pm, begins March 26.

The Cabin Fever Show

Sunday, March 23 @ 3 PM | Casco Bay Movers Studio Theater

The Cabin Fever Show is a fun and informal performance featuring Portland Youth Dance, CBM Advanced Adult Tappers and CBM teaching artists, Collective Motion and other special guests! Tickets are $10 each and general admission. All proceeds support summer camp scholarship programs.

Spring Concert Preparations

Our annual Spring Concerts will be held at Westbrook Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 14th

Costumes are arriving at the studio, and the dancers are preparing to share everything they've worked on in the classroom with you later this spring! Please note the following days and times in your calendar:

• There will be a 1 pm Young Dancer's Matinee on June 14th for dancers in semester and level 1 classes. Matinee dancers will also have a mandatory 45-minute dress rehearsal at the theater between 8 am and noon on June 14th. Each class will be assigned one 45-minute rehearsal block.
• Dancers in level 2 and above will perform in the Evening Concert at 5:30 pm on Saturday, June 14th. Dancers performing in the Evening Concert will have a mandatory 45-minute dress rehearsal at the theater on Friday, June 13th, between 3:00-9:00 pm or Saturday, June 14th, between 2:30-5:00 pm. Each class will be assigned one 45-minute rehearsal block.
• Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 1st.

Summer Dance and Art Camps

for students 3-14 years

Dancers will explore a variety of dance forms and themes through daily movement classes, arts & crafts, outdoor time at nearby Longfellow Park, creative play, and more. Unplug and dance with us this summer!

Check out our options for full-day, half-day, and Wednesday morning camps for young dancers below. Mature teens can also take classes through our summer and adult drop-in programs.

• May 18 - PYD presents the May Show @ Windham High School

• May 26 - Memorial Day - No classes held

• June 13 - Dress rehearsals for Levels 2 & above @ Westbrook PAC

• June 14 - Dress rehearsals for the Young Dancers Matinee and Performances at 1 pm & 5:30 pm @ Westbrook PAC
