Greetings!

Can you believe it is almost May? The water levels are down about a foot from the high of last year based on this past weekend's explorations of those able to get up to their cottages.

If you plan to go up to your island before the May long weekend, please be aware that the PaBIA markers are NOT in and won't be until at least the May long weekend because the difficult job of installing them is completely dependent on the weather. Desmasdon's needs sunny days and calm waters to place all of our markers.

And my sincere apologies to the Weston family for mislinking Galen Weston's obituary! The correct link is now in place.

Most Yearbooks Have Been Mailed!

Nancy Rogers wants everyone to know that the Yearbooks to US residents were sent out 9-10 days ago...and all but 50 books were sent to the Canadian members by yesterday!

The remaining ones are being held back because Nancy ran out of some of the materials! Once she receives these, in about 2 weeks, she will send those as well. Nancy will be mailing everyone affected by the delay.

So based on the mail service, almost everyone will be getting their books soon! She will also be contacting the International members directly regarding their books.
Marinas Are Open for Business!!!

In case you were wondering, all Marinas are open for business, with the COVID restrictions similar to what was managed in May 2020 and are in place (currently) until May 20, 2021. If you have questions, please contact your marinas directly.
Gypsy Moth Infestation 2020
Gypsy Moths
We had quite an infestation of Gypsy Moth in Pointe au Baril in 2020. Luckily, most healthy trees that experience defoliation (even for 1-2 years) will withstand and survive as long as other stressors (pests, lack of rain) are not present.

The attached Information Sheet on Gypsy Moth (courtesy of the Georgian Bay Biosphere) covers history, life stages/life cycles, and management & control options. Stay tuned to subsequent e-blasts for detailed information on control methods such as burlap banding, egg mass scraping, pheromone traps, and cocoon destruction.

(There is the option of applying Btk, a biological pesticide, however, this is not necessary given similar outcomes from the DIY options, relative expense, possible side effects on other butterflies and moths, and the fact that Btk will not eradicate the problem.

Thanks, Sandy Boeckh, for this information!
Are You Missing Your Aluminum Dock Ramp?
alum ramp at schatz
This Aluminum dock ramp frame to the left, which Bruce Tiffin reported back in November, has not been claimed; and it's still stuck at A145.!

Below is a second pic The wooden ramp pieces obviously floated away and would have washed up somewhere else.
Perhaps now, as many are opening up their cottages or having their caretakers onsite, someone will realize this expensive part of their dock system is gone! Should you recognize this, please contact Nancy Rogers!
