The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) shines a spotlight on the previous year's successes, achievements, and more. 2023 was a year filled with efforts for access financing, programs, client success stories, and more. The 2023 Year in Review also showcases key highlights from the year, including community partnerships, both new and ongoing, with our host institution Pace University, as well as public and private sector stakeholders such as the US Small Business Administration, the NYS Society of CPAs, the New York Public Library, the City Bar’s Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project, to help serve our small business clients. 2024 SBDC Day At The Capitol

Pace University SBDC Regional Director Andrew Flamm joined NY Small Business Development Center (SBDC) network colleagues for SBDC Day at New York’s Capitol in Albany. At the event Andrew and NYSBDC colleagues spoke with NYS legislators and their staff to familiarize them with SBDC’s free one-to-one business advisory services and training programs. As part of the event Andrew was also able to meet legislators and staff from a number of districts in the Pace SBDC’s expanded Brooklyn service area, including Assembly Member Brian Cunningham. Turner Construction Project Information Session

The Pace University SBDC partnered with Turner Construction on an in-person event at Pace’s Lower Manhattan campus that focused on procurement opportunities with the U.S. General Services Administration Silvio Mollo Federal Building project. Pace SBDC Regional Director Andrew Flamm kicked off the event by emphasizing how working with a Pace SBDC Business Advisor can prepare small businesses for contract opportunities by helping access financing, develop capability statements, pitches and websites, and secure MWBE certification. Turner Construction reps provided insights into project and vendor prequalification processes, and the event offered networking opportunities with procurement officers. Read more here.

In January, the Pace University SBDC partnered with the New York Public Library's Thomas Yoseloff Business Center and with the Brooklyn Public Library’s Business & Career Center to hold "Website Workday" events at each location. These events aimed to help small business owners improve their websites to better promote their products and services as well as develop means for online sales. Attendees received guidance on website essentials, SEO, and examples of successful sites, while receiving personalized assistance from the Pace SBDC team to enhance their online presence. By the end, participants made significant improvements to their websites or launched new ones, better positioning themselves for business growth. Learn more about our website workday events here.

Promotion To Business Advisor

The Pace SBDC is excited to announce that team member Joe Peterson has been promoted to Business Advisor. Joe has been with the Pace SBDC since 2020 as an associate advisor and student intern, and has assisted numerous companies through his work at the center. Joe has a bachelor's degree in Entertainment Management and Digital Media from Pace University's Lubin School of Business, and also grew his expertise while helping his family's non-profit foundation with website development and digital promotions.
