Feel the Impact

When you attend a Pacekids event, you are supporting children like… Julian!

“Our time with Pacekids woke something up in Julian that we always knew was there. That means everything too us.”

-      Nicole, Pacekids parent

Julian is a bright and compassionate child who is fascinated with planets and solar systems.

He needed some extra support to adapt to autism spectrum disorder, so his mother enrolled him in our preschool program.

Julian flourished when he was surrounded by caring therapeutic and educational professionals in a specialized learning environment.

“When he started at Pacekids, Julian couldn’t even hold a pencil,” said Nicole. “He can draw in the lines now, and he can write his own name – it’s huge.”

Staff Spotlight: Nancy Bell, Pacekids Teacher

What is your favorite part about working for Pacekids?

"Seeing my students find the ability and confidence to communicate their thoughts, advocate for their needs and make friends are highlights of my work. My most favorite part: when students beam as I greet them in the hallway or tell me they can’t wait to come back to school the next day."

What is your favorite classroom activity?

"Story time is my favorite classroom activity. I love looking at stories and hearing predictions of what might happen; I love reading stories with different voices; and I love seeing excited expressions as I get to unexpected parts of stories."

What is your favorite educational/therapeutic resource we use at Pacekids?

"The people are the best resource we have at Pacekids. I have worked and volunteered at many different educational settings, but nowhere else have I worked where I could approach a therapist, in the moment, and ask them to come and observe an interaction to help determine how best to help a child."
