We are sad to hear that Anneliese Eggert passed away in October. She and her husband Walt were among the highest rated USA Swimming officials and became staunch supporters of Masters swimming. They officiated at many USMS National Championships, Anneliese as Administrative Referee and Walt as Head Stroke and Turn.
Locally they officiated often and brought other Pacific Swimming officials to help, who then became Masters supporters too.
After Walt's passing, Anneliese continued contributing locally until her health wouldn't permit. She was so important to Pacific Masters that she was given The Pacific Masters Contributor of the Year Award in 1994, which then was the highest award given by Pacific Masters Swimming. She was nominated by Pacific Masters for the Dorothy Donnelly Service Award
and awarded it by US Masters Swimming
in 1998. Anneliese was
recognized by
US Masters Swimming for the service she and Walt had given with the 2000 USMS National Championship Meets Award and was given a lifetime membership in
Pacific Masters and
US Masters by Pacific Masters Swimming. Anneliese was very proud of this and never failed to renew her membership. Pacific Masters is grateful and proud to have known Annelise and benefitted from her expertise and strong support.
Anneliese made a difference to us and our program, was a positive influence for Masters within USA Swimming, and was a lovely woman and good friend.
