EDITOR'S NOTE
Long-time Pacific Masters swimmer Robert Placak recently contacted us with a fun swimming tidbit: "One of my Trans Tahoe teammates, Eric Nilsson, reached out to me today to let me know that he broke my 30-year National Masters record for the 1-hour swim set in 1990! My record was 5750 yards; he went 15 yards further at 5765 yards.

I will be swimming the Trans Tahoe swim again this year. I have only missed it once since 1985. Our Pacific Masters Trans Tahoe team, including Eric this year, holds the all-time Trans Tahoe record of 3 hours 10 minutes.

I think that this one-hour swim record may be one of the oldest national records if not THE oldest in the USMS record books. Congrats to Eric!!"
