Masters Coaches, Our Silent Giant

Of the 138 clubs affiliated with Pacific Masters, there are hundreds of individuals who have declared to USMS their position as swim coaches at their club. Head coaches, assistants, swim teachers, and instructors all play a significant role to enrich our training and development. Yet, really, who are they? And how can we better understand what their specific needs are as they serve our LMSC? Our Club and Coaches Committee think tanks, headed by Stu and Mary Kahn, are looking for answers to these questions. As a first step, please help us identify your coaches here.
USMS Officials Training
Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 25

Pacific Masters is proud to announce Officials Clinics at upcoming meets. The first two meets at which the training will be offered are the March 10 meet at Rinconada Pool in Palo Alto, and the March 25 meet at Spieker Pool at the University of California-Berkeley. Eligibility: ANYONE age 18 or over! Membership in USMS is recommended but not required. No USA Swimming officiating background is necessary. Prerequisites: View the training videos and complete the Stroke & Turn test which can be found online at http://www.usms.org/admin/lmschb/content/officialscert. (If you are not already a member of USA Swimming, you WILL need to create a usaswimming.org online account but you do NOT need to be a member of USA Swimming to do this.) If you've completed the test but haven't gotten your certification back yet, you can still train pending that. Contact Mike Abegg for any questions and to let him know if you're planning on attending. Please wear a reasonably-plain white shirt, and report to the pool deck at 7:45 (to the starter/referee table) for a short briefing and discussion. IMPORTANT: If you want to also swim at the meet, that will be fine. We will adjust training to give you time "off deck" as needed to allow you to warm up, compete, and cool-down.
