PacMasters SCY Championships
April 1-3
Registration closes March 23 (individual events); March 27 (relay only entrants)
Join us at this spring’s Short Course Yards Championships at the Morgan Hill Dennis Kennedy Aquatics Center. If you haven’t been to a meet in two years this, is the perfect time to see your friends as the facility is expansive. In preparation for hosting Far Westerns the following weekend, the starting blocks will be equipped with a string of lights, flashing at the start as you look down. Surely that will generate a surge of adrenaline and take a couple seconds off your time. If you aren’t yet in competition shape, no worries - your enthusiasm will return the moment you step on the pool deck with your friends. Morgan Hill has created this webpage for us, including three discounted hotels. Other hotels are located just across the street from the pool.
There are two deadlines for registration. For individual events, the deadline is March 23 at 11:59 PM. For relay only entrants the deadline is March 27 at 11:59 PM. Information and Registration

2022 Splash and Dash Sprint Pentathlon Event Recap:
20 Meet Records Broken!
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Albany Splash and Dash made a fast and furious return: 20 (out of 28) meet records were broken.
Swimmers raced 50s of all three strokes and the 100 IM. One of them, speedy swimmer and Update Editor, Jenn Hwang, had this to say about the meet: “I’m sure a lot of people were happy to be back and racing again. For some people, the Splash and Dash also helped show areas that need improvement in preparation for our upcoming SCY Championships. This fast-paced meet was exciting!”

Head Coach Wanted
Davis Aquatic Masters
Davis Aquatic Masters (DAM) is committed to finding a coach who can carry on the great tradition and mission of our nearly 50 year-old club. DAM has been recognized in the past as USMS Club of the Year (2011), awarded the USMS Coach of the Year (1990, 2012), won the Pacific Masters Distinguished Service Award (2001), and earned a Long-Distance National Championship (2019). These honors confirm our long history of excellent coaches and dedicated swimmers. DAM boasts a membership of over 500 people and typically offers 48 one-hour, coached practices per week.
In addition to seeking a Head Coach, the club will begin a search for an Assistant Head Coach, as well as an Administrative/Office Manager, after the new Head Coach is in place. The preferred start date is June 1. Early applicants will be given first consideration. Check out the job listing for more information. To apply, submit a letter of interest, a coaching philosophy statement, resume, and letters of reference from three professional colleagues, with contact information for each.

At age 13, swimmer Lera Nasedkina, moved to California from her home country of Ukraine and hometown of Kyiv. Almost ten years later, the now Drexel University senior went from winning three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the Colonial Athletic Association championships to learning a few days later that the city she grew up in was being attacked by the Russian military. In an article with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Nasedkina, who still has deep roots in Ukraine, including friends and family still in Kyiv as of last Tuesday, talks about being a Ukrainian watching from afar.
