Whiskeytown Open Water Swims
S eptember 8

It's back! Pacific Masters is delighted to welcome Whiskeytown Open Water 1 and 2 Mile swims back this year after devastating fires forced the cancellation of this popular event in 2018. Come support recovery efforts in the area while helping out Redding Swim Team. They have a great t-shirt available this year, too!  Please note: Contrary to what was announced in a prior Update, the swims will be held at Brandy Creek Beach, as in previous years. Registration.
Keller Cove
S eptember 21

Come to Keller Cove for the final event of the Open Water season and help celebrate the 10th anniversary of this benefit swim! It's the only SF Bay swim on the calendar, in a protected cove at Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline, featuring 1/2-, 1-, and 2-mile distances. This year, for the first time, participants will have the option of swimming two events: the 1/2-mile + 1-mile swim! Please check this webpage on Wednesday (Sept. 4) for race information and registration link.
The 16th Annual Alan Liu Memorial SCM Meet
September 22
Mountain View Masters will be hosting this meet at the Eagle Park Pool Sunday September 22. Registration is now open. Information
5K/10K ePostal Nationals
now until September 25

This event must be swum in a 50 meter pool. There are not many of these in the Bay Area. As you can see from the title of this article, there is a 5K and a 10K event. There also is a relay event in which the total times of 3 or 4 swimmers are added up. Find out more here.
Sacramento SCM Sprint Pentathlon
October 6

Fast times are expected at this SCM event, held in this  beautiful 50-meter pool complex in Folsom CA. A 50 meter swim for each stroke (Fly, Bk, Br and Fr) plus the 100 IM. If swimming all five, there is an award towel for the fastest combined time with all five events in each age  group.
Pacific Masters SCM Championships
October 11-13

This annual event held at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek is a great way to end the year.   Information Registration   is scheduled to open September 4.
Ross Yancher Memorial Brute Squad and Inaugural Brute Squad Lite ePostal Swim
October 1-November 30

Time again to challenge yourself with the 11th Annual Brute Squad e-Postal, sponsored by Davis Aquatic Masters! The event consists of a timed, continuous 200 butterfly, followed by a 400 IM, and finishing up with a 1650 freestyle. For those to whom these distances seem intimidating, DAM created a smaller event this year called the Brute Squad Lite. This event features timed, continuous distances of 100 fly, 200 IM and a 500 free.  Completing either of these events is still something to brag about! Information.

2019 Pacific Masters Annual Meeting and Celebration
November 17

Be sure to mark this date on your calendar. Our keynote speaker for this year's gathering will be Aaron Peirsol. Aaron is a three-time Olympian and seven-time medalist (five gold, two silver) and still holds the World record for the 200 backstroke, set in 2009! He will also be giving the morning's Tech Talk.  B ack by popular demand for the dry land session will be Chris Chorak. This year, she will focus on the neck and how to keep it in shape to swim well.

The celebration includes a morning workout, a delicious catered lunch, and culminates with our awards ceremony and meeting. This event is free to all Pacific Masters members. Watch for the opening of registration in October.

This is the 9 th year of our annual celebration. If you've attended in the past, you'll surely want to return. If you haven't been before, this is a not-to-be-missed event. Capacity is limited so plan to register early.

The USMS Nationals and FINA World Championships are proud memories, but we swimmers do not rest on our laurels. We return to the pool, to regular practices, preparing for the next competition. Staying in top shape means facing workouts that can be challenging and downright hard.
