The Craft of Coaching with Teri McKeever

For coaches only. Join us for a talk with Teri McKeever, the 29-year head coach of the Cal swim team and one of the most successful coaches in the sport, about developing and refining the craft of coaching.

Swimming Really Does Save Lives
|
The June 2021 CNN headline read, "7-year-old boy rescues family after swimming for an hour to shore." Young Chase Poust battled the tricky currents of the St. Johns River near Jacksonville, Florida, and was able to get help for his father and sister who were being swept away. Read more of Chase's heroic swim here.
Although the incident occurred this past Memorial Day weekend, it is forever relevant, reminding us that knowing how to swim can avert tragedy. Success stories like the Poust's, spotlight the message of our USMS Adult Learn-To-Swim program (ALTS), also known as Swimming Saves Lives (SSL), now with many new programs beginning.
Of interest to USMS members, the locale of this story, Jacksonville, FL, has been the site of past Annual Conventions, where the USMS life-saving programs were conceived and approved.
