Whiskeytown Open Water Swim
September 10

The Whiskeytown Open Water Swim, hosted by Redding Swim Team, offers a 1-mile and 2-mile swim. You may swim one or both events. Beautiful Whiskeytown Lake is located just west of Redding, CA. Start and finish are at Brandy Creek Beach. Information and registration.
14th Annual Alan Liu SCM Meet
September 24

This meet will be held at Eagle Park Pool, an 8-lane x 25-meter outdoor pool in Mountain View. Swimmers may enter up to six individual events and one of each type of relay. Online entries and entries submitted by surface mail must be received by Wednesday, September 20. Hosted by Mountain View Masters. Information and registration.
2017 5k/10k USMS ePostal National Championship
Now until September 25

Objective:  To swim 5 kilometers and/or 10 kilometers in a 50-meter pool of your choosing, then submit your results online to compare yourself to other swimmers doing the same event.  Some people do these events for competition, some do it for the challenge, some do it for fitness, and others do it for fun-all who wish to participate are welcome.  Your submitted time determines the final order of finishInformation and registration.

USMS Stroke Clinic
September 2, Mountain View  

Join USMS Instructor and Coach Bill Brenner as he leads a Saturday afternoon stroke clinic for Masters swimmers, hosted by Mountain View Masters, at Eagle Park Pool. Joining Bill will be members of the MVM coaching staff and other area Masters coaches. The clinic runs from 1:30 to 4:30. Cost is $30 for non-MVM members, $10 for MVM members, and free for coaches (but coaches will be asked to help out on deck). Coaches should contact the Event Director; attendees can register here.
USMS Instruction for Coaches and Swimmers
November 11 &12, San Mateo  
 
USMS is hosting a  Level 3 Coach Certification class (November 11 only, classroom), a  "How-to" Clinic Course for coaches (November 11 and 12, classroom and on-deck), and a Stroke Development Clinic for swimmers (November 12 only) at the San Mateo Athletic Club, College of San Mateo. Reserve your spot today!

Event host bids for the Short Course Yards, Long Course Meters, and Short Course Meters Championship Meets are now open for submittal. If your team is interested in hosting one of these Championship Meets, please send an email to the Pacific Masters Scheduler as soon as possible, or submit your bid request information here

Anyone can submit an article for consideration in the Pacific Masters Update. We appreciate new information and ideas. Please note that article length is generally limited to 100 words. If you have an idea for an article, please submit it  here no later than Wednesday, August 16 for the next Update.
