2017 USMS Convention Delegates Needed
September 13-17, Dallas, Texas

We invite you to  represent PacMasters Swimming at the USMS Convention this fall. This year's Masters Convention will be held in Dallas and hotel and air travel expenses are covered by Pacific Masters. You will meet hundreds of people from all over the country who have similar interests to yours while participating in the workings of our national organization. It's an amazing event and may even change your life. If you are interested, please contact the PacMasters Chairman or Administrator.   
New Pacific Masters Swimming Administrator Wanted

Pacific Masters Swimming is seeking candidates for the Administrator function of the Pacific Masters Swimming Committee.  This position serves as the primary interface with the over 12,000 members to field questions and inquiries, as well as interfacing with USMS regarding numerous questions, upcoming events, and policy changes.  Additional Pacific Masters Swimming Administrator functions include (but are not limited to):
-         Manage the Pacific Masters Office
-         Prepare and distribute agenda for the regular meetings.
-         Provide membership lists as approved by Pacific Masters.
-         Participate in budget preparation.
-         Events planning; Annual meeting, Annual Convention, etc.

Donner Lake  2.7 miles
Saturday, August 12
Registration for this race opens on June 1st at 8:00 am and is limited to 400 swimmers.
   Set your alarm clock so you don't miss it.
 
This is one of the longest swims of the season. The start is at the east end of the lake and the finish is at the west end. A BBQ chicken lunch is included in the entry fee and there are post event snacks to stave off hunger before lunch. Free shuttle buses run between the start and the finish. Swimmers are given a plastic bag at the start to hold items they want to be transported to the finish.  Registration
35th Annual Lake Berryessa Swim
June 3 

Davis Aquatic Masters' Annual Lake Berryessa Swim is one of the longest-running open water swim events in America. Begun in 1981, this event now attracts over 500 swimmers and features 1- and 2-mile swims. The overflowing lake levels this year promise another memorable swim full of fun and personal accomplishments!  Sign up on line to avoid standing in lines, Information and Registration.  Should you register on race day, make sure to bring a copy of your USMS card.

Camp at the lake on Friday and wake up ready to go on race day! Limited sites available. Email: [email protected] for reservations. 
Open Water Swimming Season is Here

It's here: the Open Water Swimming season!  Looking for an open water event near you? Wondering when registration opens for your favorite swim? We've got the answers for you, as well as two important rule changes for 2017, at the Open Water Swims page on the PacMasters website. The page is updated frequently, so visit often. Sign up online and avoid the race day lines. Bring a
copy of your USMS card to register on race day.

All results posted for open water swims are preliminary as there are usually some entries that need adjustments. If you see a problem with your entry or finish in the results, please contact the race director.
Sonoma Wine Country Games
June 10

The swimming part of this event has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
Lake Del Valle Open Water Swims
June 10-11

This year, the Lake Del Valle event will start on Saturday with a 5K/10K. The swims will run at the same time. You have to pre-register for the 10K and be able to meet the 3 ½ hour cut off time to swim the event. On Sunday, the 1.2K and the 2.5K will be held.  If you're new to open water swimming, try the 1.2K swim. It's run first.  For a good workout, do both. Plenty of parking. A good place to bring the kids: they have a roped-off swimming area. Information and Registration.

PacMasters June Meeting 
The June meeting for Pacific Masters Swimming is scheduled for June 21 at 7:30 pm.  It will be a conference call. For further details, email the   Administrator.  
Keelhauler LCM Time Trials
June 25

Just getting into competitions? Looking for an event that is a great first meet for new swimmers but will test seasoned swimmers too? Come test-drive your long course meter swimming races in a low-key time trial atmosphere, in a brand-new pool facility! Held at the Maritime Academy Aquatics Center at California State University in Vallejo. Sponsored by Cal Maritime Academy Masters. Note: The time trials are intended to gain experience in swimming long course and will not count for records or Top Ten. All times are unofficial. Registration.
Summer Long Course Championships
July 14-16 

Whether your summer workout routine is in full gear (or not), set your site on a challenge that is forty-six days away - PacMasters Long Course Championships at Gunderson High School in San Jose.  Never competed in a 50 meter pool?  Not a problem.  Here's your opportunity.  Mark your calendar, and look for more information in a forthcoming Update.

From the Editor:  Stroke & Turn Officials needed

If you've ever sensed the need to step up your volunteer activity at meets from Timer to becoming a certified Stroke & Turn Official, PacMasters needs you!  It's easy.  Just click on the certification link on the USMS website. You will need to view six training videos and take a brief test. Your involvement as a certified Stroke & Turn Official will be a huge plus for our LMSC (local masters swim committee - PacMasters) as we continue to grow in 2017 and beyond.
