RMAC KICKOFF

The kickoff for the 2023 RMAC football season starts with community and media events on July 27-28 in the Denver-area. The two-day event starts with community service at Children’s Hospital on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora at 1 p.m. followed by a coaches meeting and dinner for participating student-athletes, coaches and information directors at Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center.

The media opportunities start at 9 a.m. on July 28 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center with CSUP Coach Philip Vigil, and players Cory McLellan and Andrew Cook taking to the stage at 1 p.m. Vigil is starting his first season at CSU Pueblo. McLellan is a senior defensive back from Monument (Colo.) Palmer Ridge High while Cook is a junior wide receiver from Tucson (Ariz.) Ironwood Ridge High.

McLellan ranked fourth on the team in 2022 with 58 total tackles, and tied for second in both solo stops with 31 and interceptions with two. Cook tied for 10th in RMAC receiving with 42 catches for 642 yards and 12 TDs. He led the league in punt return (17.4 average) and was 10th in all-purpose yards (956). The Colorado Chapter of the NFF also recognized Cook as the special team player of the year.

On July 27 at the CSU Spur next to the National Western Complex in Denver, CSU Pueblo will host an Alumni Reception and Sam Batey Sr. Legacy Golf Tournament Player Tee-off Party from 5-8 p.m. Reception Sign-Up Link

On July 28, the inaugural Sam Batey Sr. Legacy Golf Tournament tees off at 8 a.m. at Denver's historic City Park Golf Course (3181 E 23rd Ave.). Link

The 14th CSU Pueblo Athletes Hall of Fame banquet is on October 6 at the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom on the CSU Pueblo campus. The 2023 inductees will then be recognized during the homecoming football game on October 7 against Adams State at the ThunderBowl. The inductees are:

Deborah Hunter (1985-1987) / Ryan Jensen (2009-2012)

Shelly Watts (1985-1988) / Derrick Williams (2014-2018)

UPCOMING EVENTS - The annual ThunderGals luncheon is on August 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom. The ThunderGals is women's fan club with a goal to raise funds for athletic scholarships and to provide assistance to athletes, coaches and the CSU Pueblo Athletics Department. The luncheon is catered with a silent auction and raffle. 

The Pack Club at CSU Pueblo raises

money to fund scholarships for student-athletes to be competitive at the highest levels in NCAA Division II and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
