Paddle or Pedal

on your next visit to Tawas Bay

GRAB A PADDLE and take your canoe or kayak for an exciting trip down Tawas River, AuSable River, around Tawas Lake or head out to Lake Huron. Put in at the public access launch site off US-23 North on Newman St to end, follow signs for public access site. You may also rent gear and float or paddle down the amazing AuSable River.

While on the water it is a great time to add these activities:

TAKE A BIKE RIDE along the coast Running parallel to Tawas Bay on Lake Huron you'll find a wonderful multi-use trail stretching 13.4 miles from Dyer Road at the southern end of Iosco County line to Tawas Point State Park. The trail connects multiple scenic areas including a former Gypsum mine, historic sites and waterfront parks.

While on the trails take a break to engage in these activities:

Mushroom hunting

Wildflowers

Birding

What's new?


The Tawas Point Lighthouse repairs are progressing, including new colors. Extensive research has determined historic colors. The inside of the lantern room is a pale green. There is a new red accent just under the roof. And the outside of the lantern room will be.....well, you'll have to wait and see!
