Universe of Stories: Build A Rover

Rovers are an essential part of exploring our solar system. They are highly sophisticated robots that we fling into space to explore our moon or Mars. So let’s try to build our own rover (but simpler)! We will have mini rover kits that will require us to solder the resistor chip and motors to the rover board. If you have never soldered before, this project can serve as an introduction to this important maker skill. Since we are using a hot soldering iron, please wear appropriate clothing. And remember: safety first! Registration can be done online, by calling 563-344-4175, or at any service desk in the Library. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.

Tuesday, July 9, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Want a way to play Magic the Gathering that offers a level playing field and lets you check out new cards at the same time? Then our booster box draft is for you. In a booster box draft players open booster packs together. You pick one card from it and pass the rest of the cards to the player on your left. Each pack is passed by a player after selecting a card. Once all the cards have been selected, the process is repeated but this time you pass to the right. After the third booster you will construct a 40 card deck including mana (provided). Next come the duels. See how your deck stacks up with the other players. Once the duels are over, the player with the most wins walks away with their head held high and all the accolades their peers heap on them! Registration is required and can be done online, by calling 563-344-4175, or at any service desk in the Library.
