CUNY Callouts

Meet Trang Le-Chan, the director of alumni engagement and development at City Tech. She leads alumni outreach programs and fundraising initiatives including the CUNY Tuesday campaign. Trang is a lifelong learner and has received numerous certifications as a trained mentor, a global career and career development facilitator, a certified career service provider and others. “What brought me to CUNY was the diversity and the opportunity to work with exceptional students, alums, faculty and staff,” she says. “As an immigrant and the first generation in my family to have attended college, I wanted to pay it forward and work in an institution where I could help others with similar experiences and make a difference.”

What does your day-to-day job look like? "My day-to-day mainly consists of emails, Zoom meetings and phone calls where I engage with alums and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. I am working on workshops, graduation and upcoming events for the Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month. I look forward to starting the CUNY Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship program this summer."

What do you do for fun? "I am passionate about traveling and have traveled to 36 countries in six continents. Traveling has given me a genuine appreciation for intercultural engagement and diversity and a commitment to creating and supporting a positive and engaging work environment. I [also] sample new foods and play tennis. Recently, I learned how to play pickleball, which was fun."
