Most Delaware employers have some form of family and medical leave programs for their employees. However, for those that do not have coverages, the Department of Labor is reaching out to businesses to explain all that is involved. The following is a message I received last Friday from Secretary of Labor, Karryl Hubbard:
"On July 19th, the Department of Labor held the first of many public events that are designed to help stakeholders understand the impact of Delaware’s new Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program. While we had a large turnout for this initial session, we know that we need to provide ongoing opportunities for employers and those in the business community to learn about the implementation of the law.
As we move towards the implementation of the program, we will continue to give employers the tools and training they need for implementation and ensure that the program is rolled out as efficiently as possible. Over the next few months, the Division of Paid Leave will be conducting information and training sessions up and down the state, held at different times, both in-person and online, to help employers get ready for the program’s launch. We understand our responsibility to employers as partners in this process and will work with you to ensure that the program is a success.
To that end, if you or your business group and/or association has regular meetings and would like to include a briefing on Paid Family Leave from a member of our team, we ask that you email the Division of Paid Leave, on PFML@delaware.gov.
We look forward to hearing from you."
