On-street paid parking resumes July 6, 2020
Free Pick-up/Take-out Parking zones designated for quick transactions
Beginning July 6, on-street parking fees will resume in West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Thirty-five short-term parking spaces will remain free of charge for quick take-out and pick-up service at restaurants and retailers.
With the reopening of businesses in Phase 2 of Connecticut’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan on June 17, the need for on-street parking spaces to turn-over more often has become essential. Effective July 6, fees will apply to all on-street parking with the exception of designated spaces that are designed for transactions that are less than 30 minutes.
Hours for on-street parking remain unchanged. Fees apply Monday through Saturday, 9AM to 10PM. Patrons may park up to 2 hours curbside from 9AM to 5PM. After 5PM, patrons may park longer than two hours, fee applies.
For a longer parking duration, off-street parking in a municipal lot or garage is recommended.
In the Center, there are surface lots and garages at these locations:
- Farmington Lot, 975 Farmington Ave.
- Brace Lot, 41 Brace Rd.
- Arapahoe Lot, 105 LaSalle Rd
- Town Center Garage, 29 South Main St.
In Blue Back Square, the Town owns and operates two garages:
- Memorial Garage, 75 Memorial Rd.
- Isham Garage, 17 Isham Rd.
Free, pick-up/take-out parking spaces in the Center and Blue Back Square are designed for retailers and restaurants to use for quick transactions during this period of social distancing. Each short-term parking space will be numbered for ease of identification. A patron may pull up to one of the numbered spaces and inform the business or restaurant of his/her location to pick-up food or products.
Reserved spaces for pick-up and take-out offer 30 minutes parking, free of charge. These spaces are available from 10AM to 7PM, daily. Before 10AM and after 7PM, fees apply in accordance with the Town’s on-street parking terms and conditions.
Remaining curbside spaces are available for patrons to park, fees apply.
Pay parking in West Hartford is by license plate. Patrons may register their plate at a nearby kiosk. Parking staff diligently clean the kiosks daily with disinfectant.
If contactless parking is preferred, patrons may use the PassportParking mobile app. Download the app on your cell phone and use your mobile device to pay for your parking transaction, bypassing the kiosk altogether.
We ask that you practice social distancing and wear a mask during your visit to West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Face coverings protect you and the community.
