Community Pulls Together for Collective Paint Pot Success
Bike Fort Collins is excited to report the successful completion of all three Paint Pot street murals and the lasting community connections that will remain long after the paint has dried. The Paint Pot project is a grant funded partnership with Bike Fort Collins and the City of Fort Collins made possible through the city’s recently formed Asphalt Art program. Funding for the project was made possible through the National Association of City Transportation Officials' Pandemic Response and Recovery Grant Program. Under the stipulations of the grant, project locations were selected using multiple criteria, with special attention and focus on historically marginalized and underrepresented neighborhoods. READ MORE
Over 350 Bikes & Helmets Go To Second-Graders
Back in late summer we announced the continuation and a 2nd year of Wish for Wheels FoCo, with the goal to bring a new bike and helmet to every second-grader in each of Poudre School District’s (PSD) six Title 1 schools. We funded nearly 260 of our 400 bike goal in 2020, and were seeking the same goal again this year--so every second-grader could each receive a bike and helmet set.

Well, we're happy to report, through the continued and generous support of sponsoring businesses, cycling clubs/teams, and the community overall, that we met our goal. See photos and READ MORE

Intersection / Facility Focus - Shields & Maple
For this month's intersection/facility focus we look at the intersection of Shields Street and Maple Avenue, particularly when traveling eastbound on Maple, making a left onto Shields. The current infrastructure directs cyclists to a crossing signal by way of the left-crossover bike lane. What has your experience been at this intersection? Do you feel comfortable using this intersection as it is intended? Have you experienced any bicycle/vehicle conflict here or near misses? Please take the survey, your voice matters!
In our September issue, we conducted the same survey and posed the same questions for recent infrastructure improvements at the intersection of Prospect Rd. and Remington St. Thank you to those who responded. READ RESULTS SUMMARY
RAT Ride - October Recap
October 21st marked the last RAT Ride for 2021. With the days getting shorter, we kept the route relatively brief and enjoyed libations and camaraderie at Equinox Brewing immediately following the ride.

Although it was a short ride, we covered some important topics such as bike detour signage on Remington St., a bicycle advisory lane soon to come to Pitkin St., vehicle speeds at the Remington/Prospect intersection and the continued issue of service vehicles parked in bike lanes. READ MORE
You Know Me. I Ride a Bike. - Initha Stuckey
To try to tell the full story of Initha Stuckey and her love of bikes in a single edition of You Know Me would be both short sighted and foolhardy. Her life reads more like a novel than anyone I’ve met to date, and her joyful, vivacious, warrior spirit stretches to the horizon and clear into the next galaxy. She has known more than her fair share of life’s pitfalls and curveballs and continues to strive and persevere, deriving much of her life’s joy from the simple love of the ride.

Originally from San Francisco, Initha spent the majority of her youth in the Las Angeles area. She credits her grandmother (and her grandmother’s patrons) for instilling in her an enduring focus on persistent, patient, positivity. Hearing the stories and experiences of the people who regularly gathered at her grandmother’s poker house gave Inithia a lens and perspective on life not common for most young girls of her age. A skilled poker player herself, Initha’s first car came from one of her grandmother’s winnings. READ MORE

New Active Modes Plan - Community Survey
The City of Fort Collins is currently developing an Active Modes Plan, which will combine and update the City’s 2011 Pedestrian Plan and 2014 Bicycle Plan. The plan will incorporate not only pedestrians and bicyclists, but also micro-mobility devices such as electric scooters and skateboards. Key opportunities to significantly improve and expand the City’s existing active modes networks, support facilities, policies, and programs will be identified. LEARN MORE
