CalSPEED Demo: Improving Your
Broadband Internet in the Delta

Virtual Workshop
As a Delta resident or business person, your participation in the CalSPEED test will help identify and prioritize underserved areas, like the Delta, for state and federal broadband infrastructure funding. In this 45-minute virtual workshop you will learn more about the CalSPEED program, watch a demonstration of the CalSPEED test so you can easily participate, and get an opportunity to ask questions. 

Workshops will be provided in both English and Spanish:

Amazing Delta Facts
Asparagus Harvest

While asparagus is grown year-round, mid-February typically marks the beginning of the Delta's harvest, usually lasting through April. Over 2,000 acres of Asparagus is grown in the Delta annually.

The Delta Protection Advisory Committee (DPAC) meeting is Tuesday, March 2 at 5:00 PM. The agenda includes a report from the Sea Grant Social Science Extension Specialist, a report on the Delta Conveyance Design and Construction Authority Stakeholder Engagement Committee, ESP Recreation and Tourism recommendations, proposed edits to Vision 2030 (the Commission's strategic plan), a report on proposed Delta Cross Channel improvements, and proposed Commission guiding principles for Delta Adapts (DSC climate adaptation project). Virtual Meeting
The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area (NHA) Management Plan Advisory Committee will be meeting on Thursday, March 4 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The agenda includes the selection of NHA Advisory Committee Vice Chair, a discussion of potential interpretive themes, an update on NHA Advisory Task Group formation, the NHA Management Plan schedule for 2021, and a review of National Heritage Area best practices and preferred focus areas. 2020 Annual Report Now Available
Delta Protection Commission
We are proud to announce the release of the Commission's 2020 Annual Report. It is our mission to support agriculture, recreation, cultural heritage, and natural resources in the Delta. We continue our dedication to that mission through the ongoing advancement of our Strategic Plan (Vision 2030) while being adaptable to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Extended Closure for Paintersville Bridge
Caltrans District 3 Update

From February 23 to March 19
Caltrans is alerting motorists that beginning Tuesday, February 23 at 5:00 AM the Paintersville bridge on State Route 160 near Courtland will be temporarily closed for an extended period. Additional construction is needed to maintain and keep the bridge operational. The bridge will remained closed through March 19 at 9:00 PM.

Residents and area visitors are encouraged to use the Steamboat Slough and Walnut Grove Bridges. No two bridges will be closed at the same time. Motorists may also use Interstate 5 in Sacramento County as an alternate route. Current truck restrictions will apply. California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on State Route 160.

Weather conditions could delay or cancel this scheduled work. For motorists using the State Route 84 Real McCoy and SR-220 Ryer Island Ferries as a bridge detour, additional ferry information is located on the Caltrans Delta Ferries website. Please note: the Real McCoy Ferry remains closed until February 25 due to a routine US Coast Inspection.

The Delta Stewardship Council will meet virtually on Thursday, February 25. The agenda will include reports from the Delta Watermaster and the Council's lead scientist, an overview of the Delta Landscaped Scenario Planning Tool, and an update with public comment on the Delta Adapts Review Draft Vulnerability Assessment.
