Dear Providence Residents,
October is here and if you haven't voted already, it's time to make a plan. See how to vote early, mail in or drop off your absentee ballot, and make a plan using the information provided below.
The Board of Supervisors held the second Board Meeting of the Fall on Tuesday. The Board approved the county and schools’ FY2020 Carryover Review to amend the appropriation level in the FY 2021 Revised Budget Plan. You can review the full Board package here.
Halloween is approaching and although it will look a little different this year, it can still be a fun event to look forward to. I've listed safe ways to celebrate and make it a fun Halloween the kids won't forget!

Planning for a Safe Halloween
|
|
Not Recommended This Year:
-
Traditional door to door trick-or-treating.
- Trunk-or-treating where cars are lined up in large parking lots where social distancing can’t be maintained.
- Crowded costume parties held indoors or an indoor haunted house.
Moderate Risk:
- Participating in one-way trick-or-treating where individually wrapped goodie bags are lined up for families to grab and go while continuing to social distance. Consider lining bags up at the end of the driveway or edge of your yard.
- Having a small group, outdoor, open-air costume parade where people are distanced more than six feet apart.
- Attending a costume party held outdoors where protective masks are used and people can remain more than six feet apart.
- Attending a small outside event, such as trunk-or-treat, where social distancing can be maintained and everyone is wearing a mask.
Low-risk activities that can be safe alternatives:
- Carving or decorating pumpkins with members of your household, or outside, at a safe distance, with neighbors or friends.
- Decorating your home.
- Holding a Halloween scavenger hunt where children are given lists of Halloween-themed items to look for while they walk outdoors from house to house admiring Halloween decorations.
- Hosting virtual Halloween costume contests or parties.
- Having a Halloween movie night with people in your household.
