Dear Providence Residents,
Over the weekend and in the past few days, the United States has been mourning the tragedy of George Floyd’s death in Minnesota that has been emblematic of a larger systemic issue of racial disparities and violence at hand. The incidents in Minneapolis were tragic and it is important for Fairfax to remain vigilant and ensure that nothing like this happens in our County. Our office and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors are committed to the safety and security of all of our residents.
As your local government, we must continue to be committed to our role in addressing structural changes in our communities to ensure justice, safety, and visibility of the needs for all of our residents. Fairfax County, through its
One Fairfax framework
is committed to considering equity in decision-making and in the development and delivery of future policies, program and services. County and school leaders look intentionally, comprehensively and systematically at barriers that may be creating gaps in opportunity. I, as your Providence District Supervisor, am committed to upholding these standards of equity.
Looking forward, the Board and I will continue to listen, engage in open dialogues, and pursue justice. You are not alone. We hear you, we see you, and we are listening.
With Gratitude,
Supervisor Dalia Palchik
