Third Annual Young Playwrights
10-Minute Play Contest Winners
The ten winning plays of Palm Beach Dramaworks’ third annual Young Playwrights 10-Minute Play Contest will take center stage at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on March 4 at 7pm. This popular contest was open to students in grades 9-12 throughout Palm Beach County, and the winners were chosen by a group of theatre professionals. Macy’s and Kids’ Dreams are the sponsors of the contest.

The Young Playwrights 10-Minute Play Contest was established to give teens the opportunity to write about subjects that are meaningful to them, and to inspire teachers to incorporate playwriting into their classrooms. The winning plays are presented as staged readings, and the young playwrights are invited to participate in the rehearsal process, where they learn how professional playwrights, directors, and actors work together to revise and strengthen their plays.

Immediately following the performance, the student playwrights will be recognized for their work and awarded a $250 prize. They will later receive a keepsake anthology of their ten plays.
