WHAT'S IN YOUR HAND???

PALM SUNDAY 4/10/22

Zechariah 9:9 (KJV)
9  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

HAPPY PALM SUNDAY!!!

As I sat in my studio/MAN CAVE this morning, I searched for God and IF and what HE would have me minister on today!!

I have long stopped attempting to preach just for the sake of “necessity”!!!!

1 Corinthians 14:10 (KJV)
10  There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

PREACHING, just for the sake of preaching is good, but YOUR time and mine is valuable and my desire is that YOU are edified/BUILT UP in whatever I produce.

As I sought God, I resorted to my internet and found this message from my son Joshua from 2018 and it was EXACTLY the zest of what I was thinking and even the Scriptures I was meditating upon.

The following is from Joshua:

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Purpose is what gets me out of bed every morning. I wrote a friend yesterday and told her that my life is simple. I wake up, read, write, listen to sermons and music, take a shower, use the phone, and occasionally watch TV.

I have been incarcerated for 14 years, in which six of those years have been on Death Row in rural Jackson, Georgia. I live in a 8 by 8 cell for 23 hours a day, and for the most part I am content.
I have a dream and desire to one day get off of death row, hoping to escape the gurney that condemned prisoners are forced to lay on. But as I continue to fight my appeals my main desire is to use my gift of writing to encourage people, especially the body of Christ.

My journey of writing began many years ago as I was reading over the book of Exodus. Moses was banished to the back side of the wilderness as he fled for his life from the Pharaoh of Egypt. In this barren land he had an encounter with God Himself through the avenue of a burning bush.

Moses had a call on his life but like many of us, ran from it. Moses gave God every excuse as to why he couldn't fulfill his calling. Over the course of Moses' conversation with God, God revealed to Moses that he had a gift. And the gift was in "his hand".

Exodus 4:1-2 (KJV)
1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.

2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod.

On the backside of the mountain, all alone, God revealed Moses' gift to him. The "rod" in his hand was a vital piece to his destiny. Moses...."whats in your hand?"

The year was 2007 when I finally realized what was in my hand. It was a pen and piece of paper. I was in Cobb County Jail awaiting a death penalty trial, and in my prison cell God revealed to me that He had something for me to do.

In August 2007 I began to write sermons and sending them out through email to about 30 people. With a eight grade education I struggled to write a thousand word sermon. But..I did it. Just as Moses tossed his rod to the ground and it became a snake, I exercised the only thing in my hand...A PEN.

In that cold prison cell at 3:00 in the morning all I had was a pen and piece of paper. That was the only thing in my hand. It was a small beginning but I continued onward.

Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)
10 For who hath despised the day of small things?....(a)

Many times I have heard the saying by a unknown author..."You don't have to be great to start something, but you have to start in order to be great".

Eventually those 30 readers increased to a few hundred. Over the years my gift for writing increased and my platform expanded. God allowed me to touch many lives as I stayed obedient to His leading.

Toward the end of 2017 I wondered if I'd ever write again. I had convinced myself that my season had ended. My tablet was broken, I was discouraged, lacking confidence and convinced myself that no one was benefiting from my writings anyways.

Yep...I was going to resign. (Those closest to me are rolling their eyes because in their eyes I am resigning everyday. Hey dad.) But every time I thought about quiting, my eyes would land on my tablet and I would hear the words, "WHAT'S IN YOUR HAND?"

Exodus 4:2 (KJV)
2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod.

You have been praying for purpose and the answer is in your hand. If its not in your hand then it is very close to you. You got to recognize the little boy with the two fish and five loaves so you can feed the multitude. (John 6:1-13)

The miracle is in your hand. The answer to prayer is in your hand. Your purpose is in your hand.

The restoration to a broken relationship with a family member can be healed by a loving email or greeting card. A new job or career is awaiting a search on the internet or a resume. Every answer and promise concerning your situation is in the bible. OPEN IT UP AND SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES. Use your hand to find the solution to your problem.

Stop looking at the gift in your hand as insignificant. Moses could have said, "this dead tree limb is useless". Even though the disciples recognized the little boys lunch, they failed to recognize the potential of it. One disciple said, "but what is this small lunch among so many". Shepard boy David used a small stone to bring down a big giant.
You have what you need...IN YOUR HAND. Now it is up to you to USE IT.

God Bless,

Joshua Drucker
