Pastor Trudy's Message

From palm branches waving to the cross. This Saturday and Sunday we will experience the fullness of the story of Holy Week. I think of it as preparation for all the holy weeks in our lives...those times when everything is shifting under our feet and it is hard to find solid ground. So many people tell me they pray especially for our church staff this week...we appreciate it so much and we are praying for you as well.

Holy and Mighty God, in the story of the triumphal arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem and in the story of Jesus' passion, we hear, see, and feel Your love for us in our holy weeks. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

  • All of creation bears witness to your presence. Open our eyes to see You in everything from a delicate blossom to a colossal mountain, that we might love creation as You do.
  • Earthly powers will pass away, but You will reign forever. Remind all who lead that their power and authority is only borrowed, that they might dedicate what time they have to the selfless service of all Your beloved children.
  • Comfort those who are facing the end of their lives, and all who love them, that they might trust in the promise of eternal life with You. Give strength to all in our community and beyond who struggle with the pains and trials of life, especially those with cancer, with dementia, those separated from home and family, first responders, and those we carry in our hearts…
  •  Wars, natural disasters, and famine are happening throughout our world. Help us not to see these things as a sign of the end and throw up our hands, but challenge us to stay awake to Your presence and not become apathetic.

Dear Friends, Thank you for the delicious soup and dessert! After spending the day helping a friend arrange for her son's funeral, you have no idea what an incredible gift this was to me. Thank you, Soup Angels. Grieving with a friend is exhausting, and to come home and be cared for also is such a blessing. I thank God for the gift of you. - Dotty
