Burlingame Reads 2021
March - July 2021
In the spirit of "Read, Discuss, and Act", the Library has chosen the book "The Parable of the Sower" by Octavia Butler, and supplemented with "Emergent Strategy" by Adrienne Maree Brown. With these titles, the Library aims to spur discussions and action around the themes of environmental justice, equity, and community care, as it considers Butler’s speculative fiction and how our community can address concerns locally. With its community partners, the Burlingame Library will be presenting workshops, speakers, and other opportunities to engage on the subject.
Teens and adults are welcome to join this series! Free copies of "Parable of the Sower" are available while supplies last through the Library's Curbside Pickup service. Sign up for your copy and event notices on the Burlingame Public Library website.
The Burlingame Public Library is one of 35 California public library jurisdictions participating in Book to Action 2021, funded by the California Center for the Book.
