The Behavioral Health Response Team is arguably the smallest “unit” in the Palos Park Police Department, but it has had a tremendous impact on Patrol Operations, Community Outreach and people in crisis.
Officer Danielle Scaccia's efforts help connect the vulnerable in our community with services, and divert them through our Crisis Intervention Team with our grant partners Trinity Services. Thanks to their diligent efforts we can provide proper services to those in the community needing diversionary programs instead of arrest when the situation warrants it. We do this to develop a regional cross-system collaboration program to help people with mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse who encounter police situations.
A dedicated Mobile Crisis Response Unit, funded by a grant along with local resources, provides staffed officers trained in crisis intervention, clinical responders and licensed clinicians who specialize in mental health and opioid addiction. The unit serves 125,000 residents in Oak Forest, Orland Hills, Midlothian, Palos Heights, and Palos Park.

2021 Fall Tree Planting Program
The Public Works Department has jurisdiction of the public rights of way in the Village. The area of the right of ways which are not paved streets may have underground utilities, drainage ditches, and landscaping. Each year residents are given the opportunity to have ONE tree added to the landscaping in the Village right of way adjacent to their property. The trees are planted through the Village’s itrees.com Fall Tree Planting Program. There is no cost to the resident for the tree or the planting; however, residents are asked to water the tree until the tree is established (typically during the fall and again the next spring).
2021 Trees will be planted in late October or early November. The 2021 Fall Tree planting program began on August 2nd, 2021. Please choose the type of tree you would like planted from the 2021 Tree Availability list. Call the Village Hall 708-671-3700 and request to be placed on the Fall Tree Planting List. You will need to provide the type of tree you have chosen, your name, address, and a phone number where you can be reached.
Please visit our website for more information (availability of trees depends on stock at the time of our order). We encourage you to research your tree before making a choice.
