President's Message

Hello Family and Friends of Pershing Middle School!

Last week we held our first hybrid PTO meeting, on campus and virtual! I hope you can join us next month on campus, we miss seeing everyone’s smiling faces. As discussed in the PTO meeting our Wrap Around Specialist, Ms. Rushing is starting to accept donations for our Pandas in Need. This month and next month, we are accepting new socks. You can donate them in the main school office. Ms. Rushing is also accepting toiletries such as brushes, combs, travel sized toothbrush/paste, lotions, and female hygiene items. These can also be dropped off in the office.

In two weeks, we have our Spaghetti Supper on November 2^nd. Tickets are online purchase only. See below on how to order.

Next week is our Panda homecoming game against Pin Oak on Tuesday September 26 at 7pm. The PTO is organizing a tailgate celebration, so join us at Butler Stadium at 5pm show our school spirit. Let’s show everyone our Panda Pride!

Please use 1-3 colors in your design, the shirt will be black or white depending on the design.

Homecoming Spirit Week & Red Ribbon Week

This year Red Ribbon Week coincides with our Homecoming Game. Our Homecoming Game against Pin Oak is Tuesday, October 26.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in our Homecoming/Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days:

Monday 10/25 – Hats and Shades

Tuesday 10/26 – “Red Out” Day. Wear a red shirt and show your Panda spirit

Wednesday 10/27 – Jersey Day. Wear your favorite team jersey

Thursday 10/28 – Neon Day. Wear anything neon to school

Friday 10/29 – Halloween Costume Day. Wear your favorite (must be school appropriate) Halloween costume. Costume face masks are not allowed.

Please note that due to COVID restrictions, we will not have a Homecoming Dance this year; however, we are working on scheduling dances for the spring.

HSPVA’s Middle School Workshops have returned in person this year!

Students will get hands on instruction by current PVA upperclassmen and a chance to work in state of the art studios (and see the school!) While participation has no effect on a student’s application, it’s a great way to start a portfolio and check out the art magnet HS.
