Pink Out Volleyball Game

Our Panda Volleyball Teams will be hosting their annual “Pink Out” game to help support Breast Cancer Awareness Month this Wednesday, October 6^th.

Students may wear a pink shirt and/or pink socks this Wednesday.

Astros Spirit Day

Join HISD in celebrating the Houston Astros, our 2021 AL West Division Champions, as they begin their playoff run on Thursday, Oct. 7, versus the Chicago White Sox for Game 1 of the ALDS.

All students and members of Team HISD are encouraged to show their support to the Astros by sporting orange and blue along with jeans on Thursday

ATTENTION ALL

8TH GRADERS!

Please submit ART to be considered for the Class T-shirt design!

Please use 1-3 colors in your design, the shirt will be black or white depending on the design.

DUE by 2pm on Tuesday, October 19th. Include your name and Homeroom teacher on the back of your submission. Turn your creation in at the PTO Mailbox in the front office.

PTO Membership Swag is ready for pick up!! PTO will be distributing membership incentive items in front of the school during the following dates/times:

Homecoming Spirit Week & Red Ribbon Week

This year Red Ribbon Week coincides with our Homecoming Game. Our Homecoming Game against Pin Oak is Tuesday, October 26.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in our Homecoming/Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days:

Monday 10/25 – Hawaiian Shirt Day.

Tuesday 10/26 – “Red Out” Day. Wear a red shirt and show your Panda spirit.

Wednesday 10/27 – Jersey Day. Wear your favorite team jersey.

Thursday 10/28 – Neon Day. Wear anything neon to school.

Friday 10/29 – Halloween Costume Day. Wear your favorite (must be school appropriate) Halloween costume. Costume face masks are not allowed.

Please note that due to COVID restrictions, we will not have a Homecoming Dance this year; however, we are working on scheduling dances for the spring.

Birthday wishes will appear on the marquee for three days, usually the day before, day of and day after depending on when it falls.

Pershing Spaghetti Supper and Fine Arts Showcase

Tuesday, November 2

Pershing Middle School invites the community to enjoy their Spaghetti Supper and Fine Arts Showcase on Tuesday, November 2, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

After cancelling this annual event last year due to COVID, the students are excited to share their talents with the community and welcome guests back onto campus. To ensure everyone’s safety, the event will be held entirely outdoors.

Family, friends, prospective students and community members are invited to enjoy fine arts performances and visual art displays, along with dinner and dessert. Student performances, including band, choir, theater and gymnastics, will take place 6:15-7:45 p.m. A raffle for numerous prizes also will take place.

Join the fun at Pershing’s outdoor Spaghetti Supper and Fine Arts Showcase on Tuesday, November 2, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dinner and dessert tickets are $15 or dinner only for $12. Raffle tickets are available for purchase, one for $5 or five for $20. Dinner or raffle tickets can be purchased on the Pershing Middle School PTO or through this link.

Lamar ask that you register in advance and a link will be emailed the Thursday before the event.

These events will take place on Microsoft Teams which works best in Google Chrome or through the Teams app on your smart phone.

HSPVA’s Middle School Workshops have returned in person this year!

Students will get hands on instruction by current PVA upperclassmen and a chance to work in state of the art studios (and see the school!) While participation has no effect on a student’s application, it’s a great way to start a portfolio and check out the art magnet HS.

What: A day of learning a Pom, Hip-Hop, or Advance Dance routine.

No dance experience is required.
