This month we are celebrating Valentine's Day, President's Day and Black History Month. We are also celebrating that we have seen a decline of the Pandemic in many areas. As we emerge from this latest variant episode, we are reminded how vulnerable we all are, hopeful for a different time and aware of how important and powerful health advocacy is for everyone.
There has not been a more critical time of need for individuals, families and communities, and our role as health advocates has risen significantly to fulfill that need. There is always good that comes from rough times and I believe the health advocacy field has grown and met the greater challenge. As a field, we are maturing.
On a more personal note, our board and community were sad to learn that Robin lost her mom after a fall in her home in Hawaii in January. It is always hard to lose a loved one and especially a mother. I lost my mother at the age of 10 and it has molded me, my life and especially my passion. We all know how challenging loss can be and are giving Robin time, space and support for grieving and all that surrounds such a loss. Robin had to be her mother's advocate and felt she had tools that empowered her. She has also felt the support of family, friends and the Health Advocacy Community so, thank you.
We look forward to seeing you at our events coming up.
Fondly,
Beth
