Theatre writers get paid for their work through various methods of compensation. When there are no collectively bargained standards, it’s hard to know how much to ask for, or how to negotiate for a reasonable amount in exchange for your labor and the use of your copyrighted work.
In this panel, moderated by Ralph Sevush, you'll discover how writers have been getting compensated at different stages of the production process (from commissions, to options, to advances, to royalties), so that you’ll be informed and empowered to negotiate for equitable compensation based on the current industry standards.
This panel is part of a series, presented by the Dramatists Guild's Best Practices Committee, that investigates how dramatists are compensated for their work.
