MAKE IT A DAY @ RANNEY

We are excited for the fun-filled day at Ranney on April 9. In addition to our Alumni v. Alumni basketball game at 12pm, we will be hosting the first Cars & Coffee event from 9 - 11:30am. This event is spearheaded by current parents and alumni including George Chiang '96 and Ross Gale '07. Both events are open to the entire Ranney community.

BECOMING RANNEY PANTHERS 🐾

Last month's trivia question asked the name of the Ranney mascot prior to the Panthers. The correct answer is the Ranney Squires.

During the 1979-80 school year, Dean Gregg, the Director of Athletics, lead the campaign to change Ranney's mascot from the Ranney "Squires" which was allegedly chosen by Mrs. Betty Ranney. Paul Samide, former soccer and basketball coach (1980-82) remembers, "most of the coaches at the time thought Squires wasn't the best mascot." Among the options for the change included the Lions and Panthers. Students voted and Panthers won the overwhelming majority. Thus, the change was made.

Since 1980, the Ranney Panthers have grown significantly. Today, the athletics department offers 17 sports to students in Middle and Upper School divisions. Our amenities have been upgraded with state-of-the-art fields, tracks, and equipment. We are also proud to share that in the last four decades, hundreds of alumni have gone on to play Division I, II, and III sports at the college level.
