November 1, 2023 - Issue 13

Good evening!

We began the day in darkness with the first snow of the season, however, as our Elyria Catholic school community gathered with other Catholic high schools from the Diocese of Cleveland at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, the darkness and cold gave way to light and warmth. We listened to the inspiring words of Chika Anyanwu, uplifting music from Damascus Worship, and loving words from Bishop Malesic.

Gathering over 3300 students, faculty, and staff in one location was a daunting task, but with an amazing group of inspired and dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly to make it happen, we had an experience that moved us and left a lasting impression. Thank you to everyone involved.

While we celebrated All Saints' Day together, Bishop Malesic encouraged us to "let God move you to be a saint among the saints...be a peacemaker and bring unity." No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, always remember that God loves you!

Keep the ripple going,

Annie Cunningham

Dress Down Day

For all students who attended the Eucharistic Revival today in Cleveland, please enjoy a dress down day tomorrow, Thursday, November 2. For all faculty and staff who attended or stayed behind to take care of things at EC, please also enjoy a dress down day!

Harwood will be closed on Monday, November 6

Plan ahead for Monday as Harwood's entrance to Poplar St. will be closed. Here are your options for coming from the South:

  • From Cleveland Street you can still take Harwood to Caroline Street and make a left and then a right heading north on Gulf (yes that stretch will be open!) and then a right on Poplar.
  • Take 57 all the way around to Gulf road and make a left and then another left on to Poplar.

More fun news...since the intersection of Harwood and Poplar will be under construction (for a while!), the entrance to the far lot off of Harwood will also be CLOSED. A "new entrance" covered with gravel will be created between that entrance and the existing EXIT closest to the fence in the far lot. The stone entrance will be used to enter the lot and the EXIT will continue to be used as the exit. For the safety of everyone, please pay attention and use the appropriate entrance and exit to the far lot.

After a few times, we should have this down pat (crossing fingers and saying prayers). We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Drive safely!
