Student Life

Rising Panthers Band and Color Guard Night Next Monday and Wednesday 5:00pm to 7:00pm!

Have a student that’s signed up for a band class next year? Have a musical student who wants to learn more about our band program? The Nease High School Band and Color Guard will be hosting our Rising Panthers Nights on Monday, May 13th and Wednesday, May 15th from 5-7pm in the Performing Arts Center. Come to one of the days or both if possible! These events are to get information to students and parents about our program. Parents can drop off children if they are unable to stay, but it strongly encouraged that parents stay to learn about the Band Boosters program. Make sure the musicians bring their instruments/sticks/mallets! See the flyer below for more details.

1st EVER NEASE FIELD DAY!

On Friday, May 24th (last day of school), our Link Crew members, with the help of our amazing PTSO, will be hosting a “Field Day” for the first time ever. We hope to continue this tradition with all our students in future years. Wristbands to participate MUST be purchased in the media center for $5. The event will begin at the start of EXCEL that day and wrap up at the end of the day before the dismissal bell. We will have LOTS of fun games and activities and FREE slushies provided by our DECA chapter and Mrs. Amato. We will also have a fundraiser for students to earn the opportunity to throw a whip cream pie in a faculty member’s face. 😊 Students need to see Mrs. Milian in the media center for additional info. We are desperately seeking about 30 parent volunteers to come help us out this day with supervision. Please reach out to Mrs. Milian if you are able to help us out.

YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION STARTS NEXT WEEK!

For those who have purchased, the 2024 NHS Yearbook will be distributed in front of C-Pod on the following schedule:

  • SENIORS - May 8-10 during Excel and all lunches.
  • UNDERCLASSMEN: May 13-15 during all lunches and Excel.

There will be a very limited number of books available for purchase for $100 CASH OR CHECK ONLY payable to Nease Yearbook. Books will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with seniors getting priority. If you aren't sure if you purchased a book, search your email for a confirmation from Herff Jones or Yearbook Order Center. Reach out to leisha.cowart@stjohns.k12.fl.us with any questions.

Congratulations to Dylan Cosmini for winning the autographed Pokémon Mini Backpack, signed by English Voice Actor of Ash Ketchum, Sarah Natochenny presented from The Japanese Culture Club.

This upcoming week, the Saint John’s County Sports Club will be honoring student athletes from all St. Johns County Schools. Each school will be inducting a male and female athlete of the year. We are happy to announce that Jolie Thanh-Nhan Nguyen & Austin Mills will be the athletes honored from Nease High School. Consideration for this award is a combination of both athletic and academic accomplishments.

In honor of these deserving student athletes, there will be a lunch banquet held at Amici’s Restaurant on May 16th, sponsored by the St. Johns County Sports Club. Additionally, every student athlete will be given an award plaque, and their name will then be placed on the Student Athlete of the Year board, permanently placed in our St. Johns County Hall of Fame at St. Augustine Beach City Hall.

Congratulations Austin & Jolie!

As we near the last few weeks of schools, I would like to make all students and parents aware of some important “housekeeping” dates as we prepare to close up the media center on the last day of school. Please see the important dates here. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Milian.

Get your “Panther Café Ceiling Tile”! This is your chance to IMMORTALIZE yourself in our library!

ALL students have the opportunity to take home one of our café area ceiling tiles, paint and personalize it, then have it placed back into our ceiling for a donation of $20. The money raised from this fundraiser will be used to purchase new computers for our media center and at the same time have our students immortalized in our café as these will never be repainted! Please contact me in the media center for more information. Here’s a screenshot of some of our tiles that have already been completed! Pick up your tile soon!

Athletic Clearance

Prior to participating with a Nease High School athletic team, all students are required to complete the athletic clearance process.

Please keep in mind that the FHSAA requires all student athletes to view free NFHS video courses on concussions, heat illness, and sudden cardiac arrest (see instructions below). Signatures on the EL3 form indicate that your athlete has completed these three video courses. The FHSAA also requires that all student athletes have at least a 2.0 unweighted GPA to be eligible for participation.

For step-by-step athletic clearance instructions please visit: https://neaseathletics.com/athletic_clearance/

Athletic Fee/Pay to Participate

The purpose of the Nease Athletic Fee is to help address the costs associated with operating a high school athletic department. Currently the St. Johns County School Board pays each coach’s coaching supplement, and all remaining costs are the responsibility of the athletic department and teams. The athletic fee helps cover the following expenses:

·        Game officials

·        Indoor and Outdoor Athletic Facility maintenance

·        Sports Medicine

·        Security

·        Athletic Leadership Council activities

·        Student-Athlete Letters and Awards

·        FHSAA membership dues and other fees

The 2023-24 fee will be as follows: $75 Per Sport Played

This fee must be paid prior to the student-athlete participating in his/her first contest. Nease Athletics appreciates your attention and compliance regarding payment of this fee. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Nease Athletic Department.
