Thank you to IB Boosters and parent volunteers for providing an amazing International Luncheon Wednesday for Teacher Appreciation. The entrees, sides, and desserts were all delicious and much appreciated!

Class of 2025 Early Evaluations for the Bright Futures Scholarship will be distributed to your student through their English class next Monday and Tuesday. These are individualized reports and have a report key attached to help explain the terminology on the report. The data used was sent by the district to the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship System in February, so some data points might have changed between then and now. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s counselor.

To close out this year: Please call the school clinic (547-8326) to arrange to pick up or send home your student’s medications. The school clinic will be open usual hours (8:30-4:30) the last week of school. Any medications that are not picked up by May 24^th will be disposed of per district policy.

There will be a very limited number of books available for purchase for $100 CASH OR CHECK ONLY payable to Nease Yearbook. Books will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with seniors getting priority. 2023-2024 Nease Volunteers of the Year

Congratulations to both recipients!

Parent - Sabra Sanchez

Mrs. Sabra Sanchez has served as Nease's Cadet Parent Organization (CPO) President (2021-present), leading all efforts in supporting our Navy JROTC program consisting of 185 Cadets and 3 Instructors. As CPO President she helped 70 freshman Cadets and their families understand the requirements of the program, assisted with required medical, physical, and administrative required documentation needed in preparation for our summer indoctrination. She organizes and leads a monthly CPO meeting with Instructors and parents, helping to plan upcoming fundraisers, morale events, community service and competitions. Nease NJROTC hosts two Navy Drill meets and two Air Rifle meets each year. These competitions which she leads the volunteer efforts in running consists of up to 16 high school NJROTC teams (consisting of over 300 students) coming from Northeast Florida and Georgia and over 65 active duty military judges. She has helped the unit raise over $30,000 through various fundraisers, many of which were new ideas brought on by her leadership, like our car show, buy a brick program and NJROTC Gala. She has found local businesses and organizations to sponsor our program and help offset the cost of operating our program with what the Navy doesn’t financially cover. The success of our program wouldn’t be possible without Sabra’s leadership and contributions! Our program consistently competes at the national level, which requires a tremendous amount of planning, traveling and money. In addition to being the CPO President she is also our Drill Team parent, which means she helps by organizing our trips by finding restaurants to feed over 46 cadets, chaperoning overnight trips where we stay in hotels, helping the Cadets prepare their uniforms and even pulls our trailer with all our supplies to every drill meet. Because of her unbelievable and tireless efforts our unit continues to remain unbeaten in Drill and has continued to enjoy 9 years straight of #1 status. She is instrumental in helping our unit with organizing and planning of community service, we average over 4,000 hours of volunteer community service through environmental cleanups, community outreach and support of various veteran programs. If that wasn’t enough, she also heads up our NJROTC year book, single handedly taking pictures and putting together a yearbook of all our activities and accomplishments as a keepsake for our Cadets. Sabra devotes countless hours every week, even throughout the summer to support our program. Under Sabra’s leadership she organizes our units annual Navy Ball, an event that hosts over 400 people every year and cost over $30,000. At our Navy Ball we recognize and celebrate all the accomplishments of our unit and Cadets and is the highlight of the year. 

Student - Cadet Kyan Sanchez - 12th grade

Cadet Sanchez has bridged the gap between Nease High School and the greater Ponte Vedra, St Augustine, and Jacksonville area by completing 412 community service hours. He has volunteered for numerous Color Guards at local veteran facilities. In addition, Cadet Sanchez has volunteered for beach clean-ups, The Players Championship, PVA Carnival, and multiple food drives. In addition to volunteering, Cadet Sanchez ensures tat junior cadets under his charge volunteer also. He educates them on the importance of volunteering and ensures that any volunteer service that his junior cadets sign up for, he is in attendance also. Collectively, the cadets under his charge have accumulated over 1,220 community service hours for the 1st semester of 23/24 school year as Cadet Sanchez bellies in "Leading by Example." Cadet Sanchez is a tremendous leader/mentor whose purpose is to develop and train cadets to be their best. It has been an honor to watch him volunteer and inspire others to volunteer for the greater good of the community. Cadet Sanchez is "Head and Shoulders" above his peers and is truly a young man for all to emulate.

Girls’ tennis is District Champions and went on to defeat Spruce Creek 4 to 3 to become Regional Champions as well! Go Panthers!!

Athletic Clearance

Prior to participating with a Nease High School athletic team, all students are required to complete the athletic clearance process.

Please keep in mind that the FHSAA requires all student athletes to view free NFHS video courses on concussions, heat illness, and sudden cardiac arrest (see instructions below). Signatures on the EL3 form indicate that your athlete has completed these three video courses. The FHSAA also requires that all student athletes have at least a 2.0 unweighted GPA to be eligible for participation.

Athletic Fee/Pay to Participate

The purpose of the Nease Athletic Fee is to help address the costs associated with operating a high school athletic department. Currently the St. Johns County School Board pays each coach’s coaching supplement, and all remaining costs are the responsibility of the athletic department and teams. The athletic fee helps cover the following expenses:

·        Game officials

·        Indoor and Outdoor Athletic Facility maintenance

·        Sports Medicine

·        Security

·        Athletic Leadership Council activities

·        Student-Athlete Letters and Awards

·        FHSAA membership dues and other fees

The 2023-24 fee will be as follows: $75 Per Sport Played

This fee must be paid prior to the student-athlete participating in his/her first contest. Nease Athletics appreciates your attention and compliance regarding payment of this fee. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Nease Athletic Department.
