Winter 2023 EOC (End of Course) Exams for Students That Took Class Virtually
Virtual School Students,
Nease will be offering all EOC's: Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, US History, and the Florida Civics Literacy Exam (FCLE) in between December 4th - December 12th. Deadline to request Winter 2023 EOC testing is Monday, November 27, 2023.

College Board Accommodations for SAT & AP Exams
Students with a disability may be eligible for testing accommodations through College Board for the PSAT, SAT and AP Exams. Your child’s IEP or 504 Plan does not guarantee approval of accommodations for these college entrance exams. The final decision is up to College Board.
To request accommodations for your student, the College Board’s “Consent Form for Accommodations Request” must be signed by both the student and parent and returned to school. Once the consent form is received, we will start the application process. For additional information about accommodations on the PSAT, SAT and AP, visit the College Board website, www.collegeboard.com/ssd, or call them at 212-713-8333.

Virtual Course update
If your child is currently taking a virtual course, they MUST have the course completed by January 4th for the course grade to be calculated into their semester GPA. The cumulative GPA after 1st semester of senior year determines final class rank and is used to issue graduation honor cords.
Nease High School Theatre will conclude its first semester with a production of A Christmas Carol, based on the Charles Dickens’ holiday classic. Micah Vosburg will play the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who is haunted by three spirits on Christmas Eve. Joining Vosburg are Luke Porter as Bob Cratchit, Lily Downie as Mrs. Cratchit, Rome Curtiss as Jacob Marley/Old Joe, Ellie Mirgeaux as The Ghost of Christmas Past. Andrew Hajdini as The Ghost of Christmas Present, Parker Black as Nephew Fred, Marisa McNally as Belle, and Maya Kalush as Anna. The cast will also feature Kaylie Burnett, Jacob Santana, Annabelle Frederico, Carrie Hendricks, Jackson Fry, Abigail Moring, Hannah Smith, Robbyn Dykeman, Amanda Ferrand, Mackenzie Cole, Tristan Mirgeaux, Kedren Ellis, Isabella Keller, Faith Leatherman, Juliana Weldon, Mia Kasper, Sarah Roney, Ethan Nash, Ethan Murphy, Michelle DeMeritt, Kylie Nolan, Samantha Morgan, Slava Melnyk, Charlie Evans, Mia Garrett, Kallie Smith, Brooklyn Gorga, Franziska Kasten, Kaylee Ireland, and Decker Curtiss (as Tiny Tim).
Ava Everly will be designing scenic elements for the production, including an eight-foot puppet of The Ghost of Christmas Past. Everly will also operate the puppet with the help of Maggie Yan and Tu Ly Bui.
A Christmas Carol will be directed by Nease Theatre Director, Mr. Mark Robinson, with Olivia Hill serving as stage manager, Mia Kasper as assistant director, and senior Lily Downie as music director and assistant choreographer. The crew for A Christmas Carol will include Sophia Burger, Keira (Robin) Hickey, Caitlynn Hallman, Jackie Weir, Maggie Yan, Renn Dunn, Tu Ly Bui, Ava Everly, Aliza (Alex) Luz, Amelia Thompson, Dorian Huggins, Erika Mayerhofer, Gabrielle Watson, Gharam Amun, Joy Triplett, Kadyn Sakamoto, Kaylee Raisor, Kyra Ellis, Maddi Burnett, Renad Morsi, Ryan Grant, Scott Kuo, Simone Gursky, Tu Chi Bui, and Valentina Guglietta.

Link Crew Service PROJECT
We want to try to make the holidays special for our senior citizens in our community who might find themselves alone this holiday season. So we’re asking our amazing students to make Christmas cards for them and awarding service hours for your efforts! Please stop by the media center, sit down and create Christmas cards to send to the senior citizens at Starling at Nocatee Assisted Living. A card-making station complete with cardstock, craft scissors, glue sticks, stickers, markers, glitter pens, etc will be set up behind Mrs. Milian’s desk in the media center. You can make a card here or you can make one at home and bring it in.
Service hours will be awarded for making cards:
• 3 cards = 1 service hour
• 5 cards = 2 service hours MAX
**IMPORTANT!! To receive service hours, drop your finished cards into a GALLON size Ziploc bag, and staple an index card to the bag with your full name, student number, and grade. Any bags with missing information WILL NOT receive service hours.

TV Production Upperclassmen Visit UNF’s School of Communications
Nease’s Communications Academy TV Production students traveled to UNF recently to learn about their School of Communications. Organized by UNF Professor and Communications Academy Advisory Board partner, Dr. David Deeley, the students had a chance to learn about the programs the school offers.

They toured the Communications building, enjoying a chance to get a look at the studio and control room, along with podcasting space. The students got a first-hand look at a production of “Inside Swoop” weather and sports segments, which are shared on social media. Following the building tour, the group headed over to the Student Union Building to learn more about Spinnaker Media, which is the student-run media on UNF’s campus. The Spinnaker Media outlet includes a radio station, TV studio, and news website. A big thank you to Dr. Deeley for taking the time to help our students learn how to take their TV Production skills to the next level in college! | |

Digital Design Students Dive into Career Opportunities at FSCJ
Communications Academy students involved in Nease’s Digital Design program spent the morning at Florida State College at Jacksonville, touring the South Campus and learning more about what their future might hold. During their tour, students had the chance to see the student athletic facilities and gym, the library, the student life center, and the fine arts building.

In the arts building, students learned more about the fine and performing arts programs at FSCJ, and got to see some student work. Following the tour, the students were led into a computer lab where they logged into FSCJ’s Career Coach online program. The students answered questions about themselves and then received personalized career profiles. These profiles were linked to possible career paths and included information on necessary degrees and starting salaries. Our tour guides led the students through a game called “College or No College,” in which students guessed whether certain job titles needed a post-secondary degree, and guessed whether or not several celebrities had college degrees. Finally, the group discussed what is typically required to apply to college: a GPA, test scores, community service hours, and high school transcripts. And finally, took a tour through the school bookstore, student cafe, and past the student advising office. | |

Applications for the Citi Women In IT one-week summer internship are now available!
This is a one-week internship for female-identifying students who are 16 years or older as of June 1, 2024. Students do not have to be 16 at the time of application. This internship is seeking candidates who are passionate about pursuing a technology-based career.
There are two steps to apply: 1. Fill out a survey with your info (QR code to survey link is on the flyer) 2. Submit an essay by attaching it to an email and emailing the email address as seen on the flyer.
Those accepted into the one-week internship will have opportunities in the future to apply to our WIT 6-week high school and/or the WIT 10-week college program. Many past WIT one-weekers go into one or both and then move on to other internships at Citi and even full-time roles! It is a great opportunity, but it all starts with applying to the one-week internship. Students do not have to be in an Academy to apply. This is an in-person internship, so students must be able to attend on-site at the Citi campus off of Old. St. Augustine Rd, near Baptist South (address in flyer). IB Seniors
All IB seniors received their college application “gold envelope.” There is at least a 2-week (14 working days) turnaround for the processing of the envelope. Please allow for this prior to submission.
Reminder: The FFAA (Bright Futures) Application is now open. The FAFSA is scheduled to open at some point in December. Click here for more information on changes to the FAFSA and the reason for the delay in release. Please be mindful, that you must complete these applications in order to be evaluated for postsecondary financial aid eligibility.

I hope you’re doing well! My name is Averie Brock and I am the Director of Registration for the Young Leaders Conference at the University of Florida. We are so excited to announce that our three-day conference will be February 2nd-4th 2024! We are reaching out to invite your students in grades 9-12 to apply for our annual Young Leaders Conference.
The Young Leaders Conference is a UF student-led event that guides students through a variety of workshops intended to enhance their leadership skills, while interacting with and experiencing the UF campus. Due to the large volume of registrants in the past few years we are transitioning to an application process. The Young Leaders Conference exists to educate and expand the minds of the leaders of tomorrow. In an effort to bring students who are truly passionate about developing their own leadership skills for the betterment of the world around them we are implementing an application.
