We need to share with you the latest trend that students are doing called JUULing (using an e-cigarette to enhale nicotine). We have a large number of students JUULing on campus, but it is extremely difficult to catch them because there is no mist or smell like vaping and the pods (cartridges of nicotine) are very small. The e-cigerettes look like a flash drive and the pods look like a small USB for a wireless mouse. JUULing is extremely dangerous because one pod of nicotine is equavalent to a pack of cigarettes. Students can get a buzz that makes them look stoned, which is how we have caught a few students. There are links below to articles, so you can educate yourself on this trend and talk to your child. We want all of our children to be safe, so PLEASE don't ignore this message and say your child would never do this. Students are telling us that it is extremely easy to obtain the e-cigarettes and pods and that we would be shocked at the number of kids JUULing. The consequence for JUULing on campus is suspension and a civil citation from our School Resource Officer, which is a $60 fine and mandatory drug/alcohol class.
With all the end of the year testing fast approaching we are in need of many volunteers to help proctor. If you can assist, please use the sign-up genius links below. Thank you in advance for your time and support for our students.
All 10th and 11th grade students were given a parking application this week in English. There are extra forms in the main office. Parking applications MUST be dropped off in the main office by 5pm Friday, April 13th to be considered for a spot. Students will be notified on Friday, May 4th if they will recieve a parking spot for 18-19.
The Biology EOC is quickly approaching. All current Biology students will be testing on April 30th-May 2

. The Biology EOC will represent 30% of your student’s final grade. The Nease Biology Department will be offering a Biology EOC review session on Saturday, April 28

from 9-12 (noon) in the auditorium. ALL Biology students are invited, but students must sign up with their Biology teacher (4/9-4/24) so that they may receive the appropriate handouts. We had three students from Nease participate in the State Science Fair in Lakeland, Florida March 27-28, 2018. Besides recognition from various organizations in Florida, the students received a small monetary award. Aditya Singh received recognition from the American Society of Civil Engineers, Florida Division. Michael Alan received recognition from the Florida Association of Science Supervisors. Yara Chehade was recognized for outstanding research in cancer.
Both Yara and Aditya will be attending the International Science Fair in May. We wish them well in this next step towards their science careers.

- Your first “check-in” with your supervisor should have occurred this past week (April 2nd-6th). At this check-in, you should have scheduled the date of your 1st meeting (to occur April 16-20). If you have questions, please ask Dr. Pantano or Mrs. Kennedy.

If you are an Academy student, and want to drop your Academy for next year, you must fill out and turn in an Academy Drop form. Email Mrs. Combs at
[email protected]
to request a form. We will not remove an Academy class from the student’s 2018-19 schedule until we’ve received the completed form, per district policy.
A reminder that Academy students sign a contract at the beginning of each year stating that they will maintain certain academic and behavioral standards in order to remain in an Academy program. Academy students must maintain a total GPA of at least a 2.0, and must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA (75%) in an Academy class. A student in an Academy must also maintain a good discipline record.
In accordance with district policy, if a student does not meet these requirements, he/she will be placed on probation for a semester. If, at the end of that probation period, he/she does not have a GPA which meets the requirements, or fails to have an improved discipline record, the student will be removed from the Academy. If an Out of Zone student is removed from an Academy, he/she will be transferred back to his/her zoned school. Letters were mailed home and delivered to students in class in early February, to make students and parents aware of probationary status for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year.

To just get your Yearbook photo and one scene there is a $35 sitting fee. Get your photo made in June and get an extra scene for free. The deadline to get your photo made is in September and often appointments are unavailable once we return from summer break!
Relay for Life Coin Drive Competition between high schools. Our drive is Monday, April 9th through Thursday, April 12th. Bartram won this competiton last year, so we need to take the trophy from them this year! If every student and faculty member donated just one dollar in coins, we would have over $2,500. If we raise $2,500 by Thursday, April 12th we will have EXCEL time on Friday, April 13th. First period teachers will be collecting. GO PANTHERS!!!!

Prom 2018 Information:
Prom will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Renaissance Village World Golf Resort. Ticket sales will begin on April 4th – April 18th and the cost is $60 per ticket. Cash or check ONLY!

Medical/Dental Club
has moved its meeting day and times to the first Tuesday every month during Excel B in O-118. February is Dental Health Month and we will be collecting Dental supplies for children.
