Message from the Principal

November was an eventful month filled with opportunities for learning, reflection, and community. From honoring our veterans on Veterans Day to spreading kindness on World Kindness Day, we’ve come together as a school to celebrate what matters most. We also celebrated High Attendance Days, acknowledging the importance of showing up and engaging in learning every day.

The highlight of the month was a memorable presentation by Native American dancers and drummers, who shared their cultural heritage and traditions with our students. It was an educational experience that helped enrich our understanding of history and community.

As we turn the page to December, there are many exciting things to look forward to!

Looking Ahead: December Updates

  • Wednesday, December 11th: No School - Staff PD Day
  • COLD WEATHER - Please send warm clothes to school with students (coats, mitten/gloves, hats, etc.) We enjoy the outside time unless the temperature is zero or below!

Inclement Weather Protocol

  • As winter approaches, we may experience inclement weather that could result in school closures. To ensure you stay informed, please make sure your contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus. This will allow you to receive timely notifications about whether school will be canceled or if students will participate in virtual learning on those days.

Winter Break Schedule

  • Our last day of school before winter break will be Friday, December 20th. Students will return to school on Thursday, January 2nd. We hope your family enjoys a restful and joyful winter break!

Thank You for Sharing Your Children with Us

As always, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families for your continued support. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with your children and help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we are building a strong, vibrant learning community.

Wishing you all a wonderful and peaceful season!

Warm regards,

Jori Ruff, East Elementary Principal

EAST SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Native American Ho-Chunk Dancers

On November 26th, East Elementary School was honored to welcome the Ho-Chunk Singers and Dancers for a vibrant and educational presentation to honor National Native American Heritage Month. Students and staff were captivated by the music, dance, and traditions shared—an inspiring reminder of the rich cultural heritage within our community

World Kindness Day Activity

East Elementary students celebrated World Kindness Day in the most heartwarming way! They wore their YOU MATTER shirts and joined hands to form a circle around the school. It was a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness and unity in our community.

Mrs. Peterson's first graders met with their 4th grade buddies to work on a fall activity about gratitude.

High Attendance Day Celebrations

High attendance days are when 96%+ students are present for the day. We celebrated two high attendance days in November with "Drop Everything and Read" in the hallway and a recess dance party with Mrs. Ruff.

A NOTE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Illness Management

  • We continue to require that students and staff who are ill stay home if they have a fever (100.4 or higher), are vomiting, or have diarrhea.
  • Students will need a medical note to return to school after five (5) consecutive illness absences, per the Student Handbook.
  • We will also continue to follow the District’s Communicable Disease Policy 453.3

EAST SCHOOL PARENT GROUP

The East School Parent Group (ESPG) has many plans underway for ways to support the students and staff at East. The funds we raise throughout the year are used by classroom teachers and to support special school projects and events, such as the Pumpkin Walk and school Carnival!

There are a couple of easy ways to support the ESPG with things you're probably already doing. Follow our facebook page for volunteer opportunities, donate to our Venmo account for special events, and you can even earn money for the school by scanning eligible receipts with the Box Tops for Education app.

We would love to see you at our meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month in the Library at East from 6pm-7pm. Can’t attend? No problem! Visit our Facebook page to just learn more about ways you can help out. If you have any questions about ESPG, send us an email espgbaraboo@gmail.com or a Facebook message.

Future meetings:
