SJM High School Celebrated Ash Wednesday Service
|
On Wednesday, March 2, 2022 our students, faculty, staff and some members of our community celebrated Ash Wednesday in the school gym. We all enjoyed celebrating such a special day in the liturgical calendar. Deacon Bill Lucido led the Ash Wednesday Service.
Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday, and is chiefly observed by Catholics, although many Christians observe it too.
Ash Wednesday Service with Ash Distribution started at 10:35 am and lasted for about 40 minutes.
Thank you to the 17 members of the Campus Ministry and their Director Clarissa Myers for organizing such a beautiful and peaceful service for our SJM community. We were all truly inspired by all the students who spoke that day and shared with us their Lent season plans.

Ring Blessing Ceremony for the Girl's Tennis Team
|
On Thursday, February 24th, the Girl's Tennis team had a ring blessing ceremony in honor of their Valley Championship. The ceremony was held on campus in Holy Cross Hall Chapel.
Their coach Andrew Gutierrez and Deacon Bill Lucido presided over the blessing (both in the picture above). Some parents were also in attendance.
This is a big accomplishment for the Girl's Tennis team because it's been 13 years since they last won a valley championship!

Making Fresno More Beautiful
|
On February 26, 2022, 30 SJM students participated in our second Beautify Fresno event. In two hours, our students covered over 30,000 sq. ft. of graffiti on the wall of Mayfair Elementary school. They also picked up 100 pounds of trash.
While they completed their work, grateful neighbors brought a case of water out for everyone as a thank you for trying to beautify their neighborhood.
Our students truly felt the impact of their work both visually, and by being recognized by the grateful neighbors! We are making a difference in our community!

Italian Club Celebrated Carnevale on Campus
The World Languages/Cultures Club hosted their Italian Carnevale on Friday, March 4 in Willinger Hall. The event was open to all World Languages students!
Carnevale is a Catholic holiday in Italy that takes place 40 days before Easter, just before the start of Lent. Historically, it was the last chance Catholics had to indulge before they gave up (traditionally) meat for Lent.
The purpose of this club on campus is promote the study of World Languages and foster an understanding and appreciation of other cultures. At San Joaquin Memorial High School we want to encourage all students to study a second language.

SJM SAT School Day Testing for Juniors
April 26, 2022
Sign Up Today!
SJM is offering the SAT on our campus during the school day for current juniors on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
We highly recommend that all juniors sign up for this exam as part of their college
plan. The SAT is accepted at U.S. colleges and universities for admissions
consideration. It measures what students are learning in high school and what they need to know to succeed in college. Although some colleges will be test-optional for the class of 2023 (test score not required to apply), we still recommend having a test scores.
We are pleased to offer SAT School Day at SJM so that:
Your student is more comfortable and confident by testing in a safe, familiar
setting.
You don’t have to worry about the logistics of getting to a test center on a
Saturday morning.
No one has to worry abut weekend conflicts or disrupting family time.
The cost for the SAT is $52. (This is the same cost for national weekend test days. All funds go to College Board.) SJM will bill the student’s tuition account.
Registration is due by April 1, 2022.

Tuition Scale for 2022-2023 School Year
|
Perpetual Enrollment Dates: The Financially Responsible Party understands that by March 1 of each school year, San Joaquin Memorial will notify (in writing or electronically) of the registration and tuition amounts for the next school year and the date by which the registration fee must be paid to reserve a place for the Student’s next academic year.
San Joaquin Memorial will presume that the Financially Responsible Party intends to maintain the perpetual enrollment of the Student for the next school year on the same payment plan as the previous school year, unless San Joaquin Memorial has received a contrary notification regarding enrollment or the selection of a different payment plan by the Financial Responsible Party by May 22nd of the current school year.
