Redeemed!

The Storms of Life: As we continue to pray for all who have been affected by the devastation of the hurricanes, we can also reflect upon the storms that we face that are not even weather related. It is sad to read and to watch the deathly toll a hurricane and its affects can take on a community, a state, and a country. It is also powerful to watch people doing heroic things by rescuing those in danger, delivering supplies, applying first aid, helping to rebuild and clean-up, and praying constantly. Even if you have never dealt with the aftermath of a hurricane, the storms in our lives come in a variety of forms: sickness, depression, family strife, children and grandchildren who have fallen away from the faith, financial issues, and even death. While we live in this world, we will continue to have hurricanes and other storms that will affect us and our loved ones. And yet, as we see some of the powerful reactions of people who are helping those affected by the recent hurricanes, we will always be reminded that we were rescued by our Savior in our sinful conditions. Through Jesus's death and resurrection, we have been redeemed! There is no storm that can ever take that away from us. We have been forgiven through His sacrificial death and resurrection and because of that, we are able to face the storms of life because we have the sure hope of eternal life. May God bless the hurricane relief efforts and continue to bless us with His peace and joy in the storms of life that we will continue to face.

Serving in Worship: The Seraphim Choir (grades 5-8) will be singing in church next Sunday, October 20. Students will warm up at 9:10am in the music room. Thank you!

St. Peter Chapel Offerings

The Liberian Children's Ministry: We have three more weeks to support the Liberian Children's Ministry as our offerings will help to build Lutheran schools in Liberia. To date, we have collected $172.63, and we have a goal of $500. Thank you for your prayers and your donations for this ministry.

Spectacular Students

Alumni News: Congratulations to Samantha Hales, St. Peter Class of 2021, for being voted onto the Hemlock High School Home Coming Court.

Lessons with Crayfish: The third grade class is studying life structures for their science unit. In order to do this, they have crayfish (caught by the Zaleski family) to study. They have been observing their behaviors and structures while caring for them. Some things they have already learned are: crayfish prefer dark spaces, crayfish need room to live, they have two sets of pincers and female crayfish have an egg pore located on the bottom of their bodies.

Chippewa Nature Center: Our 1st-2nd graders enjoyed a beautiful day at Chippewa Nature Center on Thursday.

Fire Safety: Our students in PS-3rd grade were able to listen to our Richland Township firefighters on the importance of fire safety. Thank you to our RTFD for visiting us today and for helping to keep us safe in our community!

St. Peter PTL: Parent Tip Line!

PTL Tips of the Week: This week's tips are to help keep our students safe during morning drop off and after school pick up. Thanks for your help keeping our students safe.

  1. Students need to cross the parking lot with adult supervision. Drivers parked on the far side (north) of the parking lot will need to walk students to their vehicles, or students will be walked to their automobiles by a teacher.
  2. Cars parked in the parking lot next to the school cannot be left running for an extended period of time due to the exhaust fumes entering the school through the vents under the windows.

See You This Monday at 6:30pm: Join us this Monday, October 14, at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria as Joe & Joy McMillan share the importance of stewarding technology well in our families and teaching our children to be digitally responsible and safe in a tech-crazy world where the lure of screens and online dangers are ever-present. Sergeant Joe McMillan is a detective for the Michigan State Police and Joy McMillan is a speaker, writer, author and the founder of Simply Bloom Co.

MSU vs. MI! Who's Your Team? Starting one week from this Monday, we will have our annual contest sponsored by our PTL to determine which fans are our biggest supporters. Students, parents, teachers, and anyone else can add change, cash, or checks into whichever team's canister they support. We will tally the totals to determine a winner before the big game on Saturday, October 26. The winning team will have their team's fight song played every day the following week for the closing bell. All proceeds will go towards raising funds for classroom flexible seating options and playground equipment. Go Blue! Go Green! or Go Away! You get to choose.

5th & 6th Grade Spirit Day: "I'm a little bit Country; I'm a little bit Rock 'n Roll"! Are you a country mouse or city mouse? The Fifth and Sixth Graders have chosen the first Spirit Day to be City vs. Country on Friday, October 18. Dress up as the best City Slicker or a cool Country Westerner. Lunch for the day will be Soft Pretzel w/Cheese, Whole Pickle, Mixed Fruit and Churros for dessert.

School Pictures: We are expecting school pictures to be delivered before the end of the school day today. As long as they are delivered in time, pictures will be sent home with students today. Panther Athletics

Volleyball Recap: The A-Team played in the VLHS Invitational Tournament last Saturday. They lost their first match to St. Michael's 0-2, but bounced back and defeated the combined team of St. Paul and Immanuel 2-0. They were also able to defeat Faith 2-0, but then they lost to Christ the King 0-2 who ended up winning the tournament. It was a fun day of volleyball and a great effort by our Panthers. On Monday, both of our teams traveled to Immanuel, Bay City. The B-team had some close sets with the combined team of St. Paul and Immanuel, but they lost their match. The A-team split the first two games and were able to pull out a victory in the last set and won the match. For their final regular season games, our girls traveled to Holy Cross where the B-Team played a competitive match but were not able to come up with a win to end the season and lost the match. The A-team captured another win by defeating the Blue Jays in the first two sets to finish their season with a 9-2 record. They will play in the TCLL Gold Tournament starting this afternoon at 5:15pm. Go Panthers!

Soccer Team Highlights: The soccer team did their best to try to repeat their St. Lorenz Invitational Soccer Tournament Championship, but they were unable to keep their winning streak alive. Here are the results:

  • St. Peter vs. Our Shepherd Birmingham 0-1
  • St. Peter vs. Immanuel Macomb 0-2
  • St. Peter vs. Trinity Utica 0-0
  • St. Peter vs. Guardian Dearborn 0-2
  • St. Peter vs. Trinity Clinton Township 0-1

In their final regular season game, our soccer team hosted St. Lorenz. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead, and they defended us well. We lost 0-5 to finish with a 9-1 record, 6-0 record in division. The team will play in the TCLL Gold Tournament at St. Lorenz on Saturday at 10:30am and 1:30pm. Go Panthers!
