Advising Week Starts Now!

My name is Vanessa Lopez, Director of Advising & Counseling here at LSC-Houston North, and I’m here along with our Advising team to help you reach your goal on time and on your terms.

Understanding how credits work is key. Most associate degrees require around 60 credit hours. Taking classes strategically each semester can make a big difference in how quickly you graduate.

If you’re unsure how many classes to take or how to build your schedule, we’re here to help. Our advising team can walk you through your options and create a plan that works for you.

Schedule an appointment with your advisor today, or stop by to connect with our team. Stay in touch. Stay on track!

What Your Advisor Actually Helps With

  • Making sure classes count toward your degree
  • Avoiding unnecessary classes (aka wasted money)
  • Planning for transfer to UH, Sam Houston State, Texas State, etc.
  • Balancing work and school schedules

  • One Appointment Can Save You a Semester
  • Appointments are quick and worth it.

If you are new to LSC-Houston North, you can make an appointment by emailing HN-Advising@LoneStar.edu.

  • If you are currently enrolled and assigned an Academic Advisor, please contact them directly for assistance using the information in your student portal. Appointments are strongly encouraged. Please bring your LSC ID to check in.

Highlights and Happenings

HIE visits Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Through this experience, students explored how agriculture connects to international trade and global relationships, gaining insight into the economic and cultural impact of an industry deeply rooted in tradition.

From engaging with livestock to experiencing the energy of the rodeo grounds (and enjoying a few carnival favorites), this trip highlighted the power of experiential learning and thinking globally.
