Boys Cross County repeated as AA division champions at the Northampton Invitational this weekend. Jack Phillips '19 lead the way; also scoring were Jack Brosius '21 (52nd / 17:44), Kaden Buchler '21 (65 / 17:59), JP Schiele '19 (75 / 18:10), Jack Flynn '21 (95 / 18:38) Jason DiMarco '22 (145 / 19:41), and Liam Hunter '21 (151 / 20:06)....

Girls Cross Country also traveled to Northampton and took a solid second place finish. Gianna Cagliola '22 crossed the line in 17th place overall, leading the Panthers with a time of 20:24. She was also the first freshman finisher. Rounding out the scoring for the girls were Kayla Croiger '22 (31 / 20:49), Natalie Florig '19 (52 / 21:40), Emily Morrison '22 (104 / 24:00), Monica Rigby '21 (129 / 25:46), and Rachel Ramkawski '22 (133 / 25:58)....

Boys Soccer opened their season on Friday 8/31 with a trip to Palisades. The Panthers were bested by Palisades 2-1. The lone goal for the Panthers was scored by Sophomore Declan Kennedy . The team looks to get into the win column at home against Upper Perk on Wednesday....

Girls Tennis faced Lansdale Catholic on Wednesday 8/29. The Panthers could not fight off the Crusaders in the 4-1 loss. Sophomore Veronica Marinari won her match at first singles....

Golf went 1 for 2 on the week. In a highly anticipated rematch with Methacton the Panthers came up just short. Ben Grimm '19 , Ethan Slover '19 , and Paul Brady '22 were top performers on the day. On Thursday the Panthers bested the PV Vikings 255-257 in an exciting match that went to the 6th card to break the tie. Volleyball started their regular season with a win on Friday against Pottsgrove. The Panthers won in three straight sets 25-7, 25-8, and 25-9. Sarah Ward '20 , Olivia DeBald '19 , and Hanna Tulli '21 all had 4 kills, while Chelsea Harvey '21 led the way with 9 assists. Mikaela Monroe '19 filled the stat sheet with 5 aces. Football improved to 2-0 against a tough New Hope-Solebury team. After a slow first half, that saw the Panthers losing 7-0, the team came out strong and put up 39 points to win 39-27. To read the full story click here. Also check out the full box score here.
Jack Phillips, Senior, Cross Country
Senior Jack Phillips led the Panthers cross country team to a repeat 1st place finish at the season opener Northampton Invitational on Saturday. Jack ran a 17:15 and crossed the line as the 31st overall runner out of a field of over 200 runners!
Community Service Spotlight:
Girls Soccer Assists at Battle of the Hilltop Tournament

The girls soccer team volunteered at the Battle of Hilltop, one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the area on Saturday and Sunday August 25th and 26th. The girls helped out being field marshals, doing trash clean up, and helped with parking duties. "It was a great way for the girls to give back to the community while enjoying the game the love" said Coach Stew Sherk.
Football Helps Brian's Buddies
On Sunday, August 26th members of the PJP football team assisted with event clean up after the West Chester Summer Soiree. The event benefited three local non profit charities including Brian's Buddies which was formed by a PJP family to help raise money for finding a cure to Dense Deposit Disease (DDD).

This school year, the PJPAC will be supporting each student-athlete through the following priorities:

Team Building ($15.00 per student-athlete) - Each team will have the opportunity to host a team building event during the season, the PJPAC will cover the cost of this event!

Senior Recognition - The PJPAC will provide a 3' x 2' fabric poster and reimbursement for senior flowers.

Senior Gift ($30.00 per senior) Each senior will receive a gift at the Paulie's Athlete Banquet in May!

State Qualifier Lunch (Wawa Shorti Coupon) The PJPAC will provide a wawa shorti coupon for each team member who travels to states.

The PJPAC will be hosting their 3rd Annual Beef and Beer on September 8, 2018 from 6 PM- 10 PM. This Night at the Races event will feature 50/50's, basket raffles, and horse races. Of course there will also be food and beer! This event is for parent and friends to meet and socialize with each other. All proceeds from this event will benefit PJP student athletes.
Don't forget to register for the Simon's Heart Protect This Heart FREE Heart Screening being held at PJP on September 30th. The event is for families with children aged 12-19. Not only will each child registered get a FREE ECG(electrocardiograph) but they will also learn the basics of CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. Some cardiac conditions that can be found by an ECG are Long QT Syndrome, Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome, abnormal rhythms, enlargement of the heart, and congenital heart defects. While there are not always symptoms of SCA parents should be looking for the following symptoms that usually show up in kids; complaints of chest pain, fainting or dizziness during or after exercise, rapid heart rate, and unexplained shortness of breath. Wrestling: Wrestling will be holding an interest meeting on Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30 PM in the student commons. All students interested in wrestling this winter are invited to attend. Parents are also welcome to attend the meeting.
