Weekly Update #22
February 26, 2021

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son (Genesis 22:13).
God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, the son God promised would continue the line of the Savior. In faith, Abraham was prepared to do so. At the moment at which Abraham was ready to kill Isaac, God intervened and stopped him. God provided a ram caught in the thicket to take the place of Isaac. Because we are sinful, we deserve eternal death. God intervened and sacrificed Jesus in our place as payment for our sins on the cross. He saved our lives for eternity. May God bless us as we continue through Lent preparing our hearts to celebrate Jesus’ loving death and victorious resurrection.

On January 13, Pastor Hansen had been given the Divine Call to serve at St. Paul’s, Roscoe, and St. John’s, Bowdle, SD. After much prayer and deliberation, Pastor Hansen has announced this week to return the Call to the dual parish and will continue to serve the Lord and his lambs at GPLHS. Please continue to keep Pastor Hansen, GPLHS, and the dual parish in your prayers.

ACT Registration and Preparation
|
Even though not all our students need to take the ACT for college admission, we expect that all juniors take the ACT as our primary form of standardized assessment. The next available ACT testing date at Watertown High School is coming up on April 17. The registration deadline is March 12. You can register at ACT.org. We will reimburse families for their child’s first attempt; simply share a receipt of payment with Mrs. Hesford, our Business Manager. If any questions about the ACT come to mind, please contact Mr. Bauer. Students are encouraged to use the Method Test Prep tools available through SDMyLife to prepare for the ACT.
