As we gear up for the SCDRP 9th Annual Meeting, we're bringing you a shortened newsletter this week. We're looking forward to seeing many of you in Wilmington next week as we explore the themes of communication and collaboration for climate-resilient communities together. To those who cannot make it to this year's meeting: we look forward to sharing what we learn with you! All meeting sessions will be recorded and posted on the SCDRP Youtube Channel after the meeting. We'll be back with regular newsletters the week of February 10!

January's Partnership Meeting featured Kaylee Mooney, who spoke about her research on vulnerability and historic hurricane normalizations. Kaylee's research is now published in the paper "Normalized Hurricane Damage in the United States: 1900–2022." Be sure to check out Kaylee's timely and relevant work!

Collaboration Corner & Partner Announcements

NOAA is seeking partner organizations interested in bringing a new workshop, “Let’s Talk About Trust,” to their community. This goal of this workshop is to strengthen relationships between coastal managers and marginalized communities.  By hosting this course, partners provide a space for participants to explore trust- and relationship-building resources, discuss key concepts among peers, and collaboratively identify successful strategies to overcome challenges. All experience levels are welcome, and the six-hour workshop can be customized to fit the group’s needs.

Do you have an announcement, question, or a request for information, resources, or connections that you’d like to send out to SCDRP’s wide network of disaster resiliency and climate professionals? Email us at scdrp@secoora.org with your request and contact information, and it may be featured in our next newsletter!

This program provides funding for researchers focused on natural hazard mitigation and other forms of risk reduction in the United States, U.S. territories, or tribal nations.

Available funds will support 5 to 10 awards in the amount of $5,000 to $10,000 each

Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. MDT on Friday, March 14, 2025.
