PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It is Spring
| |
And Spring has the reputation
of being a soft, gentle unfurling.
An awaking, from a long nap.
Rested, and a little lazy.
But spring is not Subtle.
It is actually a Fierce, Brave,
Cracking open of the earth.
So things can Grow.
With all its Messy Bits, and Beauty,
This is the Perfect Time
to Cultivate something New,
in the Artistic Work that We Do.
| | |
Something that has been Percolating
Deeply within, and for a Long Time.
Something Brave.
Let’s welcome the spring.
The warmth of the sun and the long hours
with enough light to create.
Let’s dig a little deeper
into our own fertile imaginings
and Find within,
Something Wanting, so Badly to Grow.
Vera Gates

PATTI GARDINER
Creative Freedom and
My Artist Residency Experience
|
Patti Gardiner has worked in a variety of mediums, however, photography has always been the most satisfying. Last summer she was awarded an artist residency on the Tongue River allowing her to explore new ways of seeing the relationship of water and the life around it. This resulted in her latest work called “Taking Root.”
She has also experimented with a digital cyanotype process juxtaposing shadows of wildflowers with macro photos of their seeds and pods. The series, “After The Bloom,” focuses on the unexpected loveliness of what follows after the blossoms fall away.
Patti’s intention in her work is to reveal the unseen beauty and amazing design in the natural world, stirring a sense of wonder and connection. She wants her art to encourage and nurture the promise of the future, inspiring the desire to preserve and protect.
