WELCOME to PaperWorks 2026 - 2027 Season
Celebrating art and community.
Making and sharing. Learning and teaching.
| | |
Makers of art, of beauty.
How, can we be contained,
Except within the endless
bounds of imagination
and the ability of our own hands.
To make work.
Why do we question. Except
to answer. In some new way,
known only to us. In the moments
When we discover and serve
some higher purpose.
Knowing, no limits.
How are we to make sense
of a world, Gone wild and
Without hope. Except to follow
the wanderings of our own heart
into the unfamiliar Places
we must go, in order to see,
and show the way.
| | | |
We are what becomes
A daring idea. the willingness
to move beyond the boundaries
of what Exists. Into the mystery
of the unknown.
Not because it is safe or easy.
But because we are curious
and brave.
We are the tribe of Artists
And Poets. Playing with words.
With Images. Making Art and Beauty.
Shaping form. Shaping thought.
We Bring forth What lies wanting
Deep within.
-Vera Gates

SUE CONNER - SPEAKER
An Artist Journey – Searching for Balance and Meaning
| | | | |
Join Sue Conner as she shares an artist’s journey shaped by creativity, nature, and a lifelong search for balance and meaning.
Through images, stories, and personal reflections, she will explore how curiosity, experimentation, and embracing imperfection have shaped her work and artistic voice. This presentation offers encouragement for anyone seeking to live more creatively, mindfully, and authentically.
Drawing from personal experiences, memories, and a lifelong connection to nature, her work explores themes of place, belonging, and the stories that shape us. Through layering, stitching, and mixed-media processes, she creates visual narratives that invite reflection and foster a deeper awareness of the interconnectedness of all things.

Participants will create art that communicates a personal narrative beginning with an exploration of their own "language" of symbols, lines, shapes, and colors. They will craft their own handmade brushes and stamps, experimenting with expressive mark-making, creating a series of collage papers.
These papers, along with personal photographs, found objects and ephemera, will then be used to construct a unique composition that becomes a visual story, capturing memories, emotions, and identity.

NEW! WORKSHOP
TERENCE LEACH
The Four Brush Paper Relationship
Fri, NOV 13, 10AM - 4PM
10 participants, max 15
$50 Members only
Class level: All are welcome
Learn the four brush/paper relationships and the timing associated with them. These relationships govern how water and pigment move between the brush and paper in watercolor. They are affected by time. How long it takes for the water to dry or how thick the paint is on the brush controls the final color.
Review values and make a quick value chart. Practice this timing after reviewing values. Participants will paint-along using at least 3 of the brush/paper relationships.

UNBOUND
A PaperWorks Members Exhibit at the Steinfeld Gallery
FEB 6 - MAR 18, 2027
| | |
THEME: Unbound invites artists to wander without limits. To be unbound is to be unfettered: free of the constraints of convention, expectation and the familiar. It is the moment an idea slips its tether and moves into territory yet unexplored.
The exhibition follows the imagination wherever it goes. It may arrive as a new medium, an unexpected method, or a question finally asked. It may be the setting aside of a habit of style or subject that has quietly held your work in place. Whether your work breaks a boundary or dissolves one, freedom lies in seeking new expressions once ideas are unbound.
