GRANT HANDGIS
The Art of Hand Coated Printmaking
Palladium & Gum Dichromate
"I was a commercial photographer for over thirty years. I had been photographing the world since 1963, when I garnered my first Brownie camera and began filming people and moving objects during long road trips with my parents. I began working with hand coating photographic prints in 1982, opening a Fine Art Black & White gallery in the spring of 1984 - the g. Michael Handgis Gallery. My commercial work began in 1987 when I opened a commercial studio, also in Eugene, Oregon. The prints I make today are mostly Palladium and Gum Dichromate, or Gum over Palladium prints."

PAPERWORKS WEBSITE - NEW AND IMPROVED FEATURES
A big standing ovation for webmaster Desi De La Mater who remastered our website.
Some tabs have been consolidated and other features have been added, but wait - there's more!
The new Members Gallery Directory is stunning. The Members Activities Calendar is one-stop place to discover all activities happening each month. By hovering over the calendar date/image, a scrollable pop-up is revealed, and clicking on the image directs you to the webpage with more details. Pay buttons are available for renewing memberships, registering for workshops, and making contributions to our Scholarship Funds. You'll find just what you are looking for.
Be sure to take a test drive on the updated PaperWorks website

LOOKING AHEAD - WINTER MEMBER'S CHALLENGE
BOXED-IN
It's time to think inside the box. We all have memories or items from our favorite person, place or thing. If you could house your things-thoughts-feelings in a box, what would it look like? Who or what would you honor? Using a cigar box, shoe box or any box-like container (no bigger than 8x10x4-ish) pay homage to a person, place or thing that has special meaning for you.
Bring your box to the DEC 5 meeting for display. Prizes will be awarded.

in memorium
Connie Kampsula
PaperWorks mourns the passing of Connie Kampsula, one of our founding members. Connie passed away in July suddenly and unexpectedly. She enjoyed felting and other artistic pursuits. She was associated with the Sami, indigenous people of Northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Connie's husband of 48 years passed away last year.
Her family is not planning a memorial now but at a much later date.
Left: Connie's entry in the 2023 Spooling Around Challenge - a sewing kit purchased at a garage sale which she "filled with love given to me by families, friends, teachers/ mentors /students and strangers."
