SOME UPDATES FROM THE PARADE ORGANIZERS:
(I bolded the most applicable info for our walkers)
Santa has checked his 'naughty' list and, rightfully so, has added Mother Nature to it!
So many of you have asked questions and shared how you will dress and otherwise mitigate the impact of the cold on your float and walkers on parade day - just what we would expect from resilient Wisconsinites - and we are doing the same on our end. As a result of your questions and feedback, I offer the following:
- Parade Judge Placement: You will want to be in your peak performance mode when you reach Five Corners. The parade judges will be warm and watching for you from inside the Travieso Latin Fusion Restaurant (inside the Clarke Hotel). The restaurant features an expanse of windows along Main Street, for overall parade viewing by the judges, and a great look-out area facing Five Corners.
-
- Arrivals in Staging Area:1:30-3:00 - Vehicles - Please be sure to have all vehicles arrive via Union Street and stage in their assigned space during this time. Volunteers will be there to welcome you on Union Street and direct you to your staging placement.
- Up to 3:30 - Walkers - If you have walkers in your group, that don't fit in your vehicle(s), we are adding this extra 1/2 hour for walker arrivals, to help limit the outdoor time in staging. We recommend walkers arrive early to find parking close by and then stay in their vehicle to stay warm until needed in staging. (Walkers can also be dropped off . . . that is discussed below.)
- Walker Drop-Off: Please look for the 'Walker Drop-Off' signs along St. Paul Avenue, between Barstow and Union Streets (closer to Union Street) for an area that you can pull over and drop off parade walkers. There is no parking there, just drop-offs.
- Road Closures: Please make sure all walker arrivals know that the parade route streets will shut down at 3:00. Additionally, if walkers take advantage of the later arrival time of 3:30, they will face these road closures and decreased parking availability.
What To Do and NOT To Do, Please:
- Please be aware that the Melges Car Wash typically remains open on parade day. Please do not attempt to drive into their parking lot - it is not accessible to the State Office Building parking lot and space is tight in these. You might get stuck.
-
Please let everyone know that bathrooms are available at the end of Union Street and should not use the Melges Car Wash.
-
Come join us at the entrance to the State Office Building for hot chocolate & cookies (provided by Summit Woods/Capri Communities) and snuggle nearby the 2, propane tower heaters we have rented.
- If you have children in your group, please keep them close as there will be frequent vehicle movements the entire time you will be in the staging area.
-
If you are arriving with a vehicle that is NOT in the parade, or getting dropped off, or trying to find a place to park, please do not turn in or onto Union Street. Access to Union Street is strictly limited to vehicles IN the parade and volunteers - thank you!!!

A parent MUST walk with us if your dancer is 8 or younger.

Click HERE for VIDEO of the dance we will be doing down the parade route. We will go over it too, the day of to keep warm. But in case you wanted a sneak peek :) Thank you Miss Deanna and PC for the fun parade dance again!!
- Try to learn in advance (or at least watch a few times for a general idea) since it will be cold and we will be waiting outside for less time than normal.
