SEPTEMBER 2023 ISSUE

Welcome to the Parent & Family Newsletter!

Susan Wolff, Office of University Relations

Our first 2023 fall semester newsletter--specifically for families supporting their Olivet students!

The primary purpose of this communication piece is to help you stay attuned to some of the student resources, events and overall campus info. Please take note of all of the announcements, workshops, and activities that your student can take advantage of and there's some things just for you-- lots to peruse. We can't touch on everything, but this link is very useful as well: campus events.

I hope the enclosed information is helpful to you. If you have any questions about the content or have recommendations for items to include in our upcoming bi-monthly newsletters, send those to [email protected]. Or, if you just need some advice or direction as to where to turn to with an issue, please reach out!

When convenient, please check out the parent pages on the Olivet website.

Whether your student is a senior or just looking for an internship or job, we highly encourage students to attend these career fairs each semester. It gives them great experience talking with potential employers and they learn how to be even more prepared next time around. Our Career Development Office has many opportunities for students to learn interview and resume-building skills too. Encourage them to follow their Instagram account to stay attuned to upcoming workshops.

Join our faculty, staff, students and alumni for a special weekend! Check out the calendar of activities (art exhibition, planetarium shows, football, reunions, women's and men's basketball, improv, hockey, Alice in Wonderland, School of Music Concert and much more: Family Weekend.

Parent Session during Move-In Weekend

On Sunday morning of move-in weekend, Dr. Jason Stephens, VP of Student Development, hosted a session for parents and supporters of new students. There is some great content in this video (even if the screen is hard to see) for new and returning parents. Encourage you to take a listen.

Graduate Program Opportunities for YOU

A few years ago, the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies launched a pathway to a one-year accelerated master's degree, and it was a huge success. We started offering it to our ONU 'friends' and many alumni. Friends and parents have taken advantage of this offer of a 12, 18 or 24-month master's degree (MOL or MBA), significantly discounted. Each degree is offered 100% online and can be completed in one year.

Find out more information here:$12K MBA & MOL.

Listen in on the upcoming Chapel speakers this semester--opportunities for great conversations with your student!
